Help needed in programming Keyless remote for 2002 Sienna

I have a 2003 Sequoia (not Sienna), but I need to reprogram my two remotes. I tried this Sienna proceedure, but after the second set of 5 cycle on the locks, I did not get the automatic power lock cycle.

Anybody know what the procedure is for a 2003 Sequoia? It is the factory system.

I programmed my 2 new remotes, and then my old ones stopped working. Sure enough, I didn't read the instructions properly. I had to program those 2 and my old 2 all together. They all work perfectly now.


1. Insert the key into the ignition (don't turn it) and pull it out
2. perform 5 lock/unlock cycles starting with lock.
3. Close, then open, the driver's door.
4. perform 5 lock/unlock cycles starting with lock, as you did previously
5. Turn the ignition to "ON" (as far as you can go without cranking your engine), then back to "OFF".
6. Again, turn the ignition to "ON" (as far as you can go without cranking your engine), then back to "OFF".
7. Remove the key from the ignition.
a)Within 3 seconds, the power door locks should cycle (lock then unlock) automatically, indicating successful entry into programming mode. Return to step 1 if the locks do not cycle at this point.

Perform these steps within 40 seconds:
a) Press the lock and unlock buttons on the transmitter (the remote) simultaneously for 1 second.

b)Immediately after letting go of the lock and unlock buttons, hit the lock button by itself and hold it for 2 seconds. Within 3 seconds, the door locks should cycle (lock then unlock) once indicating successful programming. If the door locks don't cycle, or cycle twice, repeat steps 7a,b, as this means the remote has not been accepted.
c) Repeat steps 7a and 7b for each transmitter that will operate the vehicle, including any EXTRA old transmitters. BEFORE YOU CLOSE THE DOOR!!!!!

Close driver's door.

There ya go. Just a couple pointers.
First off, notice the bold in step 6 c). You have to repeat 6 a) and b) for EVERY remote, both your old ones that were already working, and your new one(s). And you have to do it before closing the driver's door in step 7.
Second, don't test your remotes until you've completed step 7. Then go ahead and test all of them. If you press one of the buttons on the remotes before having completed everything and closing the driver's door, the programming will not be successful.

I have a 2002 Sienna Symphony with (1) power sliding door (passenger side). Any solid method for this model w/ the one power slider? The remotes just quit suddenly. I replaced the battery in each unit with no success. Help!!!

I have a 2002 Toyota Sienna LE and the directions from "schwaboys" are the ONLY ones that worked. all of the others would not put my car into programming mode, and the directions from schwaboys worked first time!!! It was awesome, especially after diddling around with the others for a couple of hours.
