Re: Hello Again and Guide Me!

I hate to say it but Neon hands down. The Spec-V won't even keep up, unless the neon drive drives stick like my friends g/f.

Re: Hello Again and Guide Me!

He didnt' ask about car specs. He just said he wanted advice! Come on guys! Do this... this is your mindset: "I WILL NOT buy this car without a good deal. I would LIKE new, but I'm just as happy taking my business elsewhere and getting something else. I DO NOT NEED YOU, mr salesman. We ARE NOT FRIENDS." Either that bitch gives you a GREAT deal, or you walk. That's how you gotta think. And TELL HIM right off the bat, he uses high pressure sales bullshit, you will walk out.

Re: Hello Again and Guide Me!

Can anyone give me reasons beside power to go with the Neon? I understand that it's been discontinued, but honestly around here that's made it more expensive.

Not to mention if you want to talk power there's a turbo kit available for the Spec V that the stock engine and transmission can handle that boosts her up to 285 HP using only 8psi safely. Build up the engine and you can run more.

Truly there's more to buying a new car than stock performance. I'm gonna need this car through college too so the warrantee kinda voids itself out (both have 3 year 35,000 at the dealerships I've been to).

The SRT-4 has better leg room than the Sentra, I can't even fit in the drivers seat of the Sentra even with the seat all the way back and reclined. The SRT fits me like a glove everything is in perfect reach for me and nothing is awkward.

You've probably already done it but I'll say it anyways incase you haven't but I would check out forums specifically for these 2 cars. That would give you a good idea on any problems they will have and some general information you may have overlooked or not found.

As far as buying do what Cyprus says that's really good advice.

Re: Hello Again and Guide Me!

^good idea.

I agree about trusting Nismo and Nissan more, seems like they just can't make a bad car.

So far it seems like you've got the right mindset atleast, and everyone else's opnions on going to the dealership sounds good too. Don't go in there trigger happy, ask smart questions you know? Try not to come off as a newb to cars, because if I was a salesman that'd be like smelling blood and going for the kill. But you'll never know till you try, some salesmen are dick's, some are as cool as your bet friend. Oh and bringing someone thats a good haggler is definitely a good idea.

I say just go in to scope it all out then come back other day.

Re: Hello Again and Guide Me!

how tall are you andy? I've test driven both and I'm more than comfortable in both, but thanks for pointing out something other than power. I'm only 5'9" and really both were comfy to me. The only "comfort" issue I could complain about in the Spec V would be the shifting is a lil rough, but I suppose it's something I just have to adjust to.

What is a good deal is the question though? I mean, I don't know what to look for out've a new car, it shouldn't have any defects that I'd be able to pick up on. I'm used to buying used cars off individual sellers and knowing what traits are typical for cars that old and of that mileage...

I mean I really guess I don't have much to worry about, but inexperience gets to me. Thank you all for your thoughts so far and please keep them coming. Maybe someone wants to tell me what they did last time they bought their car at a dealership... how the process goes.
