Yeah - I ended up stepping up to the plate a few times.

I was hopeful that there would be at least one user over there who was familiar with my contributions in other places and could lend some extra credibility to my comments, and "McLaren" was able to do that.

It was also nice to see one of their Administrators step in and add to the discussion while suggesting that certain people should tone down their own approach. Hopefully all is well now.

Re: XP4 Owner?

Yes, well done. I honestly wouldn't be able to go into as much info as you on something like that and also not sure if i'd be able to "restrain myself".

Re: XP4 Owner?

I recieved that very photo (btm pic) from McLaren Cars a couple of years ago when I made an enquiry on colours and it had the same Photoshopped look then. XP4 did have a deep hue though. last I heard (about a yr ago) it was still in ca

Just got another pic from my brother with the McLaren parked out infront of Seneca Lake (neighboring lake of Keuka) with his brother tom sitting in it; note that he's not posing for the camera

That's not a lake and those boats look totally fake back there.

Good show man - thanks again for sharing. I just love XP4 - it's probably the best looking F1 (road car) in the USA.

Re: XP4 Owner?

The color on XP4 there in the natural sunlight is phenomenal. I think it would have been a better publicity car than XP5 because of it's color. Thanks a lot for the pics everybody!

Peloton, what would you say is the best looking F1 created? Including Road Cars, GTR, LM and the GT?

Which chassis and colour?

and do you have a favourite picture out of your collection?

I like the dark blue and dark green F1s the most. That would include #018's original look, XP4's current look, #011 when sold by Christies (though I would have the interior changed), XP5 at any point in it's life, and certainly chassis #051 of the ones I have seen photos of.

I could post photos of all of them if you aren't familiar.

As for a favorite picture in the collection... damn, that's a tough question. There are some very special pictures in there - ones that really made me say "Wow" when I first saw them. There are other photos that are truly great but aren't all that large which makes them less appealing. Some pictures might not be of the highest quality, but offer unique information that increases their stock. There's also that shot of #068 with me in the driver's seat that I happen to like quite a bit.

Normally I run the latest and greatest finds as desktop wallpapers on my 3 computers, but right now I'm not even living up to that really.

Home PC:

Office PC:

Laptop:

There have been some others up recently on my home and work PCs, but the laptop has remained the same since that picture was first discovered.

Some of my recent favs have been the great shot of #065 in Singapore I found a while back, the shot of Rowan's car from TopGear, the shot of the 4 ZAZ Museum F1s together, a shot of one of the FINA shortails that tak43 took at Silverstone, and several of the shots of LM3 which I never get tired of looking at. Surprisingly though its rare to find a shot of any of the cars I listed as favorites actually on my desktop.

Re: XP4 Owner?

Do you know if the shots of 065 you are referring to were taken by a Deepak? He's a friend of mine and posted them on some Subaru forums, if I remember right.

I was specifically referring to this photo:

Did he take some of the ones from the Dreamcars show? Those are very nice too.

Peleton, thanks for the shot of your laptop one.
That was the one that was on the old McLaren site under '95 GTR wasn't it?

I tried for a quite a while trying to find pics of it cause I loved it's silver and yellow paintjob, but I had no luck.

I don't think that shot was ever on the old McLaren site - they had more of a side view of the car. The section you refer to as 'yellow' is actually 'Papaya Orange' btw.

I have good news though - a high res version of that photo along with several others showing #01R in it's original livery can be found in this thread:

New Pic of #01R in Original Livery

Interestingly, we learned through murraydeschot that GTR #07R also wore a similar paintjob for a while, and he shared this collection of photos with us from his encounter with that car here:
