It's a weird colour.I had it mixed at the local Car paint suppliers.Lamborghini Arancio Orange. It actually looks a lot darker in my photos than it does on the model. The colour seems to change depending on how the light catches it.It looks really light from some angles and less orange and really bright, more orangey from others.

Lights question

A quick question for anyone who has built this kit.Didi you use the kit decals for the black sections around the headlights or mask and paint it.I wondered how well the kit decals fitted?

Re: Lamborghini miura

Here's a picture of the almost complete model. It just needs the front indicators, rear lights, side door vents and a few badges etc.I'll be glad to get it finished as I had my fair share of problems with the model, not the kits fault more me but I got a bit frustrated at times building it. It'll probably be my last road car kit and I'll stick to the rally cars in future, now where's that 1/24th Lancia Delta S4.

Re: Lamborghini miura

The frustration doesn't show!

Did you put a wash on the wheels?

Re: Lamborghini miura

No, I never put a wash on the wheels just sprayed them with the same silver as the sills.

I don't want to sound smart - coz I'm not (smart, that is) but you might want to consider it. It helps bring out the features of the wheels.

I only asked because on each of the total 4 cars I have built and posted here, in each one someobe has suggested I wash the wheels - and they were right IMHO

Re: Lamborghini miura

Yeah,I'll give the wash a try. What colour paint would you suggest I use for the wash? Black,or will that be a bit much on the silver?

Re: Lamborghini miura

I think well thinned out black or dark grey will do the job nicely - it's going to settle in the edges and grooves anyway and put the shadow there.

Start lightly and you can always come back and add more if needed. As the saying goes, "less is more"

Re: Lamborghini miura

Yeah, definately give those wheels a wash. I have this one in my stash, and the engraving detail on those wheels is fabulous. Put a light wash of thinned black and they will look incredible. There's a How-To in the directory on my favorite method.

Terrific looking build- especially the paint job. Very clean. I love seeing the Miura in all the beautiful not-red colors it came in.

Re: Lamborghini miura

Fantatic looking model. My orange Miura is my all time favorite build.

I washed my wheels with Tamiya Smoke, diluted with water. It really brought out the details.
