Re: AutoArt Mercedes-Benz S550

no i'm not saying maybach is the same quality. i said that my maybach costs less and the interior quality is much better. i don't think that maisto is gonna make the new s-class. btw there is no more s500. it is now a s550. the displacement is bumped up from 5.0 to 5.5. thus calling it 550.

No it's not a millenium edition, the box for mine says it's 'Autoart Performance'. As for modifying your new s class, I'd say give it a try but no need to spend too much on this project as there might be another version of this model come out later.
Your Maybach cost less? Ebay?

and if you telling me that on maybach they did the same kind of job as a s550,then i'd better spend money on hot wheels maybach cause it's like 4 times less money, even its a bit out of scale.

I think the quality of Aa models in general are actually a little better (except this one of course) than when they were $50-65. But yeah, with their price increase (all Aa models will cost at least $70-80), we were definitely getting better deals if we take this into account.
As for the Maybach, it's definitely NOT like this one, in fact I think it's one of the best models they ever released (it's the best Aa in my collection, at least)!!! So again, I would recommend you getting Aa Maybach over hotwheels or anything else out there if you ever want to buy this model because the quality is that good!

Re: AutoArt Mercedes-Benz S550

well my maybach 62 my mom brought back from a germany benz dealer. i forgot how much she said it was but i bought my maybach 57 w/ lowenharts for 75 on ebay.

62 in front and 57 in back (w/ lowenharts)

yeah i'm not going to do an overhall. just subtle mods. anyone know how where to get shiney black paint (the glass jar type) like tamya or testors or something.

If you're talking about those small paint jars then you can get them either at Hobby Town USA or a Wal Mart.

Oh, well then I don't know. I've only used Testors paint. Never had a chance to try any of Tamiya's products...

same i've only used testors and model masters. i don't use tamiya because you have to mix it right? w/ paint thinner

Re: AutoArt Mercedes-Benz S550

hey hobbes i remember i asked you this a couple of months ago on which video game your sig is from. when i played gt4 how come i couldn't find the sl-class? do you have to unlock it or something? btw i don't have ps2 so it's not like i can try something or something like that.

anyways hobbes here are some shots of the fake burl wood.

like i've said i think it would be too hard to do the sticker on the command click wheel

and rear a/c vent (sorry hard to spot the a/c vent in this pic)

correction there are front seat belts. they were molded into the b pillars.
so far i've painted the black part on the front seat belts and buckles. i've installed maisto seat belts for the rear and have painted small details on the door handle in the back. i have painted the ignition silver for the keyless go effect. i have also made a set of 4 floormats made out of greyish white suede. sorry i don't have any pics of the mats because when i brought my camera over to my grandma's i forgot to stick the memory card back in.

btw the pics of the command clickwheel and rear a/c vents were before i have done any mods to the car. so don't look for the painted and installed seatbelts and suede floormats in those pics.

Re: AutoArt Mercedes-Benz S550

I like that wood. Like you said the center console looks difficult but a little trial and error wouldn't hurt unless you don't have that much wood left.

Been a while since I've played GT4 but I do think the SL is an unlockable product...

Re: AutoArt Mercedes-Benz S550

i think i'm going to do the black laquer because the rear storage area between the seats is the sectional door sort of like a sectional garage door and i think it would just be near imposible to get that to look right. and on the command click wheel area if i got the wood on the top i would lose all of those buttons and i wanted to paint those silver to show it off. don't worry about the wood. i have a ton of it left enough on this sheet that two midsize diecast cars can fit on top of it.

Man I never get tired of looking at your Maybach group shot!!! Those two look great together. I really like that black one with those lowenhart wheels, actually I know it's available on ebay for $80 now but..... I already have a Maybach 57 in a different color so I probably won't get it afterall
and yeah a little mods would be enough as I don't think too much can be done to improve that model (unless you want to cut the doors open )......hopefully the millenium edition does come out in the future then I'll probably get it.....

Re: AutoArt Mercedes-Benz S550

there is this asian mall here in seattle where a ranch 99 market is inside. i got the wood from a small little tuner shop in that mall. the store sells such products as mufflers, tuner bumpers, and cell phone holders that mount to the a/c vent. i'll try to get a website for you.
