LOL... I have a 74 Nova... 350 w/manual trannie and a couple mods... Burnouts that were longer than a city block (prior to the u-joints busting off)
Top speed... the speedo broke at 140 (was still accelerating) and the needle just went back to 0 mph... Needed another cable LOL
The only time I was ever beatten was by a 89 honda crx and he cheated, we agreed no spray and he sprayed 10 pounds... just barely beat me tho. :-D

went through 5 or so sets of u-joints, about 5 clutches, 3 transmissions, 2 cam shafts and many tires, and she was still running strong when I put her up before I left for the army. My brothers friend drove it to a storage area, and was scared of it when he got 2 blocks from the house.

Moral of the story, it is an absolute rush to have that much power at your feet... but not cheap if you like to put the power to the pavement. Yeah I could have been gentle with it and still not have to change any of that stuff... but I was 18 and had a lead foot.

hey my family owns a 95' ford escort wagon wit the 5spd manual. being 16 i have tryd doing burnouts and such. it seems that with the proper amount of clutch and gas i can spin the tires for as long as i want but it involves over rev-ing. in the rain ive spun the tires across a whole 8 lane road, but in your case im not sure what your car is capable of....

so YES the 1.9 has atleast enough power to spin the tires abit.
