Re: Re: Re: 96 stang(rotors/brakes)

Ok i got all 4 brake pads on with some force and they seem to be working fine, is it tipical for the pads and disc to get pretty hot when they are new?

Also as far as the rotors, i still couldnt get them off, they actually dont look to be worn at all just rusted to all hell, sanded some of the rust off and hopefully they will pass inspection.

Re: 96 stang(rotors/brakes)

Well brakes normally get hot while driving anyway. Its hard to say really if what you have is normal heat or abnormal. I am sure your mechanic will point out any problems. Glad you got them on alright.

Re: 96 stang(rotors/brakes)

Maybe they changed something between 96 and 2000 that I wasn't aware of. I didn't have to do that to my brakes to get the rotors off.

Re: 96 stang(rotors/brakes)

Ok thats what I was talking about earlier. You will have to order new caliper brackets if you have the same thing going on that I did. Don't worry they are relatively inexpensive, I think I paid 15 a piece or so. If you heat them up with a torch and use the PB you may be able to knock them loose but it may not be worth your time. I got the parts from Rockauto.com they were very good about helping me, they have every part you can immagine. Don't even try pepboys or autozone they won't have caliper brackets.

Re: 96 stang(rotors/brakes)

The brackets are sold separately I don't know if the caliper is sold on its own or with a bracket though. I thought the little boots on the bracket were the boots you were talking about.
