When you decide to put a new clutch in it, you should get a light weight flywheel also.

any certain specific reason? a lighter flywheel actually lowers the rotating mass of the engine and causes the rpms between shifts to drop more than with a stock flywheel, which in turn makes the car slower because you have to go through more rpms before the next shift.

Looks great. Good luck with everything you wanna do to it. Now I can actually see how small those trunks are and it sucks that you are limited to space. Have you considered building a fiberglass enclosure for your sub to save on space? I've been working on a new setup for my hatchback but haven't finished it yet. I'm mixing two designs I had for it so I can have all of my trunk space and keep a nice clean look using some fiberglass. Anyways, keep up the good work.

Good point. But wouldn't the car accelerate faster because of the lower rotating mass of a lightweight flywheel?

Thats what I heard. By switching directly to synthetic you will cause some crazy leaks. Be careful if you want to go this route, read as much as you can about the negatives and positives before you give it a try. Although the synthetic in what I have read is great for the car but not great if you don't take the necessary precautions.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I don't mind not having any room in the trunk. I'm gonna keep the same box I have now, but I'm gonna continue to work on it to make it look nicer. I never even considered building a fiberglass enclosure to save space because the sub I have now is pretty powerful and it takes a certain amount of airspace inside the box to perform at its maximum ability (I could have made the box smaller but I am more concerned about performance). Even if I would have done a fiberglass box.....I would have had to make the inside airspace the same as the current box. For me its function over form. But the way to go with your audio setup really depends on the application and how it's gonna be used.

Good luck with yours, and be sure to post some pics upon completion.

I'll do some more research on it before I put it in.

I've heard that the engine revs up fast but the RPMs come down slow not fast that way you can stay at a high RPM to keep the ol turbo runnin?

Have fun!

Dinosaur oil plugs small leaks over time. Synthetic flushes the engine clean, including the caked oil that was plugging your leaks. That's the theory, at least. Switching to synthetic on a mile mileage car is sometimes not recommended for this reason. With your low mileage, and well taken care of car, you'll be fine.

Your speed mods list seems more researched than your suspension mods list. Maybe something to look into.

Actually, what subwoofer are you running that requires that much airspace? I have a 12" Alpine Type R and it only needs a little over a cubic foot of airspace. Too much airspace can actually damage a subwoofer. Anyways, a fiberglass enclosure should perform just as well as a wooden enclosure would...

Yeah, I am gonna post pictures of mine when its finished. All this snow in ohio is holding up my process though. I'm waiting on a nice warm day to finish the fiberglassing.

with a lighter flywheel, the rotating mass combination is lighter and weighs less, therefore has less momentum and thus the rpms drop quicker between shifts.

My sub is an Orion HCCA 12d competition subwoofer. It is a really nice piece and when you look at it outside of the enclosure the quality of it is pretty obvious. It requires 2.25 cubic feet of airspace and a port that is 4" in diameter and 12" long. So I built my box to these specfications. But if you are looking at puchasing one I don't think Orion makes it anymore. We have had it for a couple years and it was previously installed in our s-10 xtreme which our setup won best in show (it wasn't the loudest but we had the best overall constructed setup) at the sound off competition. We barely used it. I think we payed around $300 for it brand new. Despite being kind of old its still a nice piece.

With a lightweight flywheel you should get back some of that hp that you lose from the drivetrain. Yes, the rpms will drop faster, but when your racing your shifting so fast the rpms dont have a chance to drop much, if any. And if he wants to go all motor he will need all the performance he can get.
