You kids really do have to stop smoking crack.

Most race wheels are two or three piece.
Usualy the centre hub with the spokes makes up one piece, and rim makes up the 2nd.
This way the manufactor can make one size of centre peice, and sell differnt width rims to suit differnt use's, or needs.
3 piece wheels just make the centre hub a 3rd piece again, meaning one set of spokes to produce, and you then order a hub to fit your car with rim width to suit.

They are popular in motor sport becuase if you happen to damage the wheel rim you don't have to replace the whole wheel. You just unbolt and order a new one from the manufactor.
It also saves weight, as the centre can be cast from light weight allow, and the rim made from even lighter rolled or pressed steel.

Re: NEED HELP! Name that RIM!

yea, i was pretty sure that there are wheels made of more than one seperate piece.

although, there are wheels made where the bolts do nothing and really are for show, i think those AMG wheels are actually one piece.

Well I'll be damned. First time I've heard of that. Any 2-piece wheels(wheels that aren't made out a solid piece of stock) I've seen are welded together. Thanks for the info. Peace-
