Re: 4g63 Stealth...

Just an FYI. Its not actually the montero engine, its an engine out of a JDM car that isnt sold in the US. It is the same block, but in order to get most of the parts to line up correctly you need to get the FWD version of 6g74 along with a lot of JDM only parts.

Yea I talked to the guy that did it when he sold it on Ebay, I believe he had time slip/video proof of 13.5 @ ??...I know he told me 13.5 and i'm pretty sure he had the proof, it was a while ago though.

Re: 4g63 Stealth...

true... I knew it was a jdm engine... and most of the parts will have to be JDM... but I was also under the impression that it was the montero engine... 13.5, not bad for N/A.... better than what I'm putting down now...

Haha a 4G63 Handle more HP? haha a 4G63 is a Eclipse GST Engine! how many Eclipse do you see broken down? ALOT! My brother Blew up his Eclipse motor just by puitng a 16g turbo on it with stock internals! then even better he had mabey 300 to the ground and went to the track and launched his car and DESTROYED THE DIFFERENTIAL! (plus he has been through 2 trannys) there is no way a 4G63 can hold more than 500 hp either in the EVO or Eclipse with stock internals. A 3000GT is known to be one of the toughest cars Mitsu made and can hold up. so if a Bolt on 4G63 can have 500+ HP Then a Bolt on VR4 can have 650+ (NOT). Not to come off as rude but thats just my opinion.

And for the record it is possible BUT pointless to put a 4G63 in a 3000gt.
but if you do it requires some fabrication.
Infact my freind did the opposite of what you did. he took a first gen Eclipse and Fabricated a 6G73 into it, and its a bad little car, its quick. but he had to do custom suspension, mounts, drive line, ect... so if something breaks he is in trouble.

Re: 4g63 Stealth...

True... that's what worries me about going completely custom... I thought a/b getting my own welder and doing the stuff... I took welding classes... and no how to use the equipment... but I don't wanna be going down the road and something snap... that'd suck...

I'm not going to get into the whole my brother did this and that thing. That was one experience. Dozens of people could come up with some story about blowing trannies and destroying diff. in a 3kgt also. Infact, I read alot about how the 3kgt tranny is one of the weakest parts of the car.

You "see" a lot of eclipse's broken down is because people think they are in a F&F movie, and beat the piss out of them. They are also very easy to mod, and many parts are made for them. Mods + dumb people = problems.

It is a KNOWN FACT that many people have achieved 450-500+ hp levels on a 4g63 with stock internals, and when tuned correctly (which is what your brother sounds like he ignored), they are surprising sturdy. Yes, as with any highly modified car, there will be problems, but it has been done by more than a handful of people. BTW I believe there was a recall on the differential some time back, that could have been a cause to your brother's misfortune.

Also, your sig. is huge. Might want to shrink that a little.

Re: 4g63 Stealth...

My brother did tune it... Infact he tuned it his self. You might think thats was his prob but no... after his incedent he went and got a first gen 6 bolt block and put it in his 2g and built the car it all to hell (over $30,000) and puting out 600 to the wheels BUILT. and he road tuned it him self and it has been holding up for little over half a year.

Now I was right the first time. The 91-93 tcase is weak. They switched to 25 spline in 92.5, but the case itself is still pretty weak. Its made of cast aluminum, and is known to crack in 1/2. The 6 speed tcase is made of cast iron, so it is much stronger, but when you put too much power through that you start to shred the gears inside the case.
