Re: 4g63 Stealth...
Just an FYI. Its not actually the montero engine, its an engine out of a JDM car that isnt sold in the US. It is the same block, but in order to get most of the parts to line up correctly you need to get the FWD version of 6g74 along with a lot of JDM only parts.

Re: 4g63 Stealth...
true... I knew it was a jdm engine... and most of the parts will have to be JDM... but I was also under the impression that it was the montero engine... 13.5, not bad for N/A.... better than what I'm putting down now...

And for the record it is possible BUT pointless to put a 4G63 in a 3000gt. but if you do it requires some fabrication. Infact my freind did the opposite of what you did. he took a first gen Eclipse and Fabricated a 6G73 into it, and its a bad little car, its quick. but he had to do custom suspension, mounts, drive line, ect... so if something breaks he is in trouble.

Re: 4g63 Stealth...
True... that's what worries me about going completely custom... I thought a/b getting my own welder and doing the stuff... I took welding classes... and no how to use the equipment... but I don't wanna be going down the road and something snap... that'd suck...

You "see" a lot of eclipse's broken down is because people think they are in a F&F movie, and beat the piss out of them. They are also very easy to mod, and many parts are made for them. Mods + dumb people = problems. It is a KNOWN FACT that many people have achieved 450-500+ hp levels on a 4g63 with stock internals, and when tuned correctly (which is what your brother sounds like he ignored), they are surprising sturdy. Yes, as with any highly modified car, there will be problems, but it has been done by more than a handful of people. BTW I believe there was a recall on the differential some time back, that could have been a cause to your brother's misfortune. Also, your sig. is huge. Might want to shrink that a little.

Re: 4g63 Stealth...
My brother did tune it... Infact he tuned it his self. You might think thats was his prob but no... after his incedent he went and got a first gen 6 bolt block and put it in his 2g and built the car it all to hell (over $30,000) and puting out 600 to the wheels BUILT. and he road tuned it him self and it has been holding up for little over half a year.
