I never heard anyone use that phrase, I have only heard "you can have your cake and eat it too," which means if you have something you might as well use it or enjoy it.
As for the Mazdaspeed6 being a sporty family sedan with rally gimmick, I just do not buy that thought. For one thing the Mazda6 is too small to be the ideal family sedan, at least by US standards. It also has a credable engine, which is in the WRC Focus, and Mazda is also known for building nice handling cars. From the way I see it the Mazdaspeed6 is like a modern rendition of the Merkur Scorpio or Ford/Mazda's current attempt at sticking it to BMW and Mercedes. There is also rumors of a Mazdaspeed3 coming out (along with some auto magazines already taking some supposed spy shots of the test car) which will have AWD and a 2.0l varient in wagon form. |

Re: MazdaSpeed 6 or EVO? For getting around
If you get an Evo, then you're going to have to get used to catching the bus. Because, if something hasn't broken (As happens most Mitsubishis), then the car'll be stolen. It's really not practical day to day, it's too damn uncomfortable and attracts too much unwanted attention.
The Mazda6 MPS is the best bet if you're not going racing.
