The name Eric means 'one who rules¡¦. Jesus, the Prince of Peace, is our ruler. He sets the standards by which we are to live our lives. God has chosen Eric to do the same in his own life that others may follow his example.

A ruler makes decisions, not only in his own life but in others as well. That may not seem to be what Eric is doing, but he is nonetheless. He does this by making some choices, right or wrong and then influencing others to do the same. Eric may or may not be conscientiously trying to get others to follow his example. But the Lord has given him the ability or even the anointing to do so. Those around him tend to do what he does, like he does and when he does.

Eric can be a hero or just one who rules with a hard hand. But when he follows the direction of the Holy Spirit in his life, he exercises control in his own life by doing what he knows is the right thing to do. Eric is one who is not wishy-washy when it comes to his beliefs or standards. When these are modeled after the principals of the Word of God he then has the favor of God upon his life.

Paul, when he understands just how small and helpless he is in his spirit man can then turn to his Maker who will make him a giant of a man through the power of God's Holy Spirit.

Everyone at one time or another feels inadequate for the task set before them. Paul does too. However Paul has learned to turn to God to help him and be his strength. By doing so he is able to do many things that causes him to shake his head in amazement for he knows that in himself he simply is not able. He understands the weaknesses of his fellow man and therefore is an apt listener and counselor for those who come to him. And others do come to him. They come because they see the things in life he has overcome, the things he has accomplished and the goals he sets and achieves.

Paul's greatest gift is knowing just how small, weak and vulnerable he is without God. He is not pretentious or puffed up in himself. When Paul feels he is small, that is when he is standing tall in God's eyes.
