I agree with tengzero.

Smoking kills people prematurely. Smoking cuts your life span drastically.
This has been a proven medical fact for 55 years.

Smoking contributes very significantly to many, many deseases, cardiovascular problems, heart desease, and all kinds of cancer.

Personally, I have seen dozens of friends and relatives die of smking related deseases. They all regretted having started to smoke.

I do not know ANY smoker who does not want to quit. They ALL do!!

Sure quitting is tough, smokers have my sympathy.
But I still hate tobacco; I hate how I have to go through a cloud of the stuff outside buildings. I hate how, as a kid, I had to put up with smoking relatives (all dead now) and later, with smoking co-workers.

Finally, I hate how the tobacco companies and some aspects of society manipulate and con people into starting smoking, when its obvoiusly so very bad.

i do admit that smoking is discusting, and doesnt do anything good for u. the only reason i smoke is to feel normal cause im addicted. i have quit for 2 years, then my mechanic totalled my 20k rx7 tt and i lost it. ya, its not a good excuse, but something triggered a relapse if u may. ive been told that its harder to quit than heroin, but i know u just have to be strong minded and be totally set on quitting. so i dont say i want, or wish i could quit, i say i smoke, and i will quit soon. there is no trying....

Excellent point about healthcare costs, AlmostStock. Insurance is paying for the oxygen tank, the doctors/hospital costs, the mobility assistance equipment (for when it eventually gets that bad), the tracheotomy, and every other healthcare item. And then by the time they get to that point, it seems many of them don't care because the end is getting closer anyways, so they keep smoking. And my costs go up to support them.

And there are those who say I have the right to go somewhere else if I don't want to put up with their stink. Yeah? Well it's everywhere. It's outside public buildings, restaurants, and school campuses. It's jammed, still smoldering, into the ashtray outside a main entrance, so that I HAVE to walk through it. It's the guy smoking up a storm in the car in front of me, while the smell gets blown into my car through the vents (then he flicks the stub out the window, because nothing is nicer looking than a cigarette butt yellowing on the sidewalk, waiting for me to step on and get tracked into my car -- yes, it HAS happened to me.) Maybe I would like to go shoot some pool on a Saturday night? Well, that's out of the question, because every bar or pool hall (in New Hampshire, at least) has a cloud hanging around the ceiling. One of my personal favorites is the ever-present group of people who sit on the benches right outside every entrance way of my college, and puff absent-mindedly on their cigs -- last time I checked, there isn't really any other way into the building. But then, I suppose it's my right to wait out in the car or in the foyer for all of them to disperse if I don't want to have the smell hanging around in my hair and clothes for the rest of the night? Screw that.

Smoking intrudes on other's lives to a far greater degree than other's opinions on the things intrude into the smoker's life.

They don't die from it but being around second hand smoke increases your chance of lung cancer.

I don't like smoking and people who tell me to "shut up" when I ask them to please stop have their head up their fucking ass. They obviously haven't seen the end of the road that I have seen.

Both of my grandmas have had lung cancer (one dying a horrible death from it), one grandpa (was able to pull through), two uncles (one is dead the other has 6 months to live), and a couple of other friend's family. All of these people were smokers. My uncle worked construction and that added with the smoking caused a very aggresive form of lung cancer that took him very quickly.

Yes, it is people's choice to smoke or not. The thing is I do not want anybody to go through pain and suffering the last moments of their life.

My grandma, had one lung fail, she was averaging 5 breaths a minute the last two to three days she was alive, snot pretty much building up in her remaining lung along with puss that slowly sufficated her, when her good lung filled up enough she could not lean up because she couldn't breath and had to go to the bathroom on herself, morphine had to be given to her in a gas, eating and drinking anything caused her to yell in pain because the lung cancer had grown from her lungs all to her body cavity, she weighed little to nothing as she had been eaten alive, and finally she couldn't breath as the snot and puss filled her lung up enough to where she pretty much drown.

Is that the way you want to die? Not me, and I try my hardest to warn people who smoke because I wish for nobody to go through that.

I don't understand this! If you smoke for most of your life then you will mostlikely die from a smoking-related illness!! WHO DOESN'T KNOW THIS???? If you smoke at all you have a chance of shortening your lifespan. I know this, I am a smoker. Everyone that I know who is a smoker knows this! Why do I smoke? because I fucking like it! I don't enjoy smoking a pack a day but I do enjoy smoking a butt with my coffee in the morning, on my break at work, and with my beer after I get home from work. The reason I smoke a pack a day is because it is fucking addictive!! If I could only smoke those 3 ciggs then I would, but it just doesn't work that way. I would like to quit, but the problem with that is I enjoy my smokes at certain times, and if I were to quit then I can't have something that I enjoy. I will quit when I'm good and ready. So don't try and convince me to quit becuase it will kill me. I know this, especially since it says it right on the fucking pack! If i continue to smoke for the rest of my life I will sure as shit die from cancer or other smoker related illnesses, just as people who eat McDonalds for their entire lives will die from high-fat diet related illnesses, and those who drink too much will die from alcohol related illnesses. Seriously if the worst part of your day is when you walk past the smokers outside of a building, then you've got a pretty coushy life there bud. Peace-
