I got it off of ebay. It was a 3 foot section.

It is 3" silicone

I just tried to find some and couldn't.

Mmmmm. The 5.0L is a very nice engine. I am suprised you're interested in beefing up a V6. One thing I've learned over the past year on building high-performance V6s is that the only way you're going to get BIG power is by stroking the engine with forced induction. You're not going to get those numbers with just 'bolt-on' modifications. I would be suprised if you were able to get your mark with the stock ECC, even with internal modifications. Getting the ECC to cope with major modifications is a feat in itself, even with MAF (depending on how hardcore the mods are).

Let me put it this way. Some of my friends raced a 95' 1.9L Saturn vs. 96' 3.0L Taurus. Even though there were 3 passengers in the 1.9L Saturn, the Saturn still won. I destory 3.0L Rangers by car lengths with my 2.9L, though it's running a drag cam, mustang injectors, headers, MAF conversion, basically the works.

You may want to read this article:
Do Mufflers "Make" Horsepower?
The answer, simply, is no. The most efficient mufflers can only employ the same scavenging effect as a header, to help slightly overcome the loss of efficiency introduced into the system as back pressure. But I have yet to see an engine that made more power with a muffler than an open header exhaust. "So," you ask, "what the hell is the best flowing muffler I can buy?"

According to the flowbench, two of the best flowing units you can buy are the Walker Dyno Max and the Cyclone Sonic. They even slightly out flow the straight through designs from HKS and GReddy BL series. Amongst the worst, are the Thrush Turbo and Flow Master mufflers. We'll flow some of the newer mufflers as they become available at our local Chief auto.

Re: MORE POWER FROM BOTH 3.0's

the 3.0 in the ranger and the 3.0 you likely raced in the taurus is the Vulcan. it makes 45-55 hp less than the duratec depending on year.
