First ride was a '65 Olds F85 in 1975. Second and one of my favorites was a '70 Cuda in 1977. The one I still think about trying to get back was a '62 Ford F100 Unibody (full frame but intregal cab/box) That was cool!
The car I wish I still had, I DO still have. I bought a '69 Olds 442 W32 convertible in 1980 and still have it. W32 was a one year option. Red with black top, interior, and hood stripes. I bought it 25 years ago because I had a set of rare '69 H/O wheels that I wanted to use on something. |

Re: OT: what was your first car, what car do you wish you still had?
My first car was a hand me down from my dad, a 98 jeep grand cherokee limited with the 5.9L V-8. Had plenty of good times with that thing in high school... It was nearly unstopable in the mud

Mine was a hand-me-down 1987 GMC S15 with 2.8L throttle body injection. It was a regular cab and it was pretty mean. I miss it, only problem it ever had was it burned up the starter a couple times... sold it at 150k. Good memories in that truck.

My first car was a Pontiac Sunbird
As for the car I wish I still had...I had a 1996 Silverado 4x4 350. That thing was sweet. I'd take it off-road all the time, goin up hills in reverse and such. The demise of this truck was tragic though. Nov. 2001 it was totalled and I mean totalled. Got side swiped by a car, sent into oncoming traffic, and into a brick wall.Check out the pics: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/328508/1 Pretty nasty huh?

My first car was a 92 s10, single cab, standard, with the 2.8L, it had 150,000 miles when i got it, i gave it a new paint job, ar rims, and straight pipes. It took all that i could give it and ran perfect when i got rid of it. I wish i still had just to mess around in it

My 1st was 66 Mustang with a 200 straight 6. Paid $100 for it and got about 10,000 miles out of it. The only thing was that it liked to blow trannys. My old man had a hook with a few junkyards because of all of his work trucks and was able to get me them for free. He dropped the first one in the driveway and told me to figure out how to put it in myself. After the second one went, I parked at the yard where he kept his trucks and one of the men there dropped a tree on it. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted!

Re: OT: what was your first car, what car do you wish you still had?
My 1st was a 1970 Custom 10. That truck must have hated me! After jumping it, racing it, and just plain killing it, I sold it for $3850.00 (with a new paint job and trans). I missed it so bad my wife bought me a 1969 Custom Camper 20 just to shut me up. It has the stock 396, AC, Auto, Factory Tach, Tilt, PS, PB, and every other factory option available 36 years ago. It even has the factory vacuum gage! The best part is it only has 54,000 original miles. God I love that truck....

My first one was a 1966 sky blue Mercury Monterey hardtop. I was 16. It had the 390 with the c6 transmission. I put in an fm converter (it only had an am radio) and speakers in the rear deck (it only came with the one speaker in the front).
A friend of mine told me that he had an uncle that totaled a 1968 Mercury Cyclone with the 428 cobra jet engine. It was located in Tennessee. I drove with him to Nashville to pick up the engine. We drove from Pensacola to Nashville in 5.5 hours (yes we were hauling butt). I picked up the engine from the wrecking yard and they put it into the trunk (yes trunk) of my Monterey. I then drove back to Pensacola in 5 hours. I remember getting aggravated when a car passed me on the interstate on our way back. The speed limit was 70 and I was going 80. I sped up and had to go 115 to pass him. I stayed in front of him for a long time then my temperature gauge showed my engine (the 390) was overheating and I had to slow to 110 to keep the temperature down! Hey I was 16 and fearless (and did not know any better). That 390 was a good engine. When we got back to Pensacola I had a mechanic install the 428 cobra jet and man that car would fly. The only cars I could not beat were the Plymouth 440’s, the Mustangs and the Corvettes. Those were the days! Car I wish I still had? Duh! |

Re: OT: what was your first car, what car do you wish you still had?
1973 chevelle ss that I paid 1000 bucks for. Had a worn out 350/TH350 with 2.73's. Ran the 350 for about 6 months and paid 400 bucks for a complete 454 that ran out of an old pickup at a junkyard. The guy even threw in the TH400 behind it in the deal. Had it bored and hot tanked and put her back together with a few upgrades and drove it like hell until I broke the front ladder arm connector on the drivers side. The rear end tore loose and the driveshaft beat a hole in the floorboard. It sat on blocks for years. I gave it away as a wedding gift to a buddy who'd tried buying it from me for years. I miss her.

Re: OT: what was your first car, what car do you wish you still had?
Between my wife and I we have had about 50 cars or so...my first was a 1959 Cadillac Sedan deVille with the big bullet tail lights. I had to have a job to support that car. We now have a 2000 K1500, a 2001 VW Passat and a 2000 Sundowner horse trailer. We used to have big expensive cars but we both have horses now so there goes all of the money...I wouldn't have it any other way.
