Greetings 2004vho. I continue to believe you are in error on several issues. In 2004 - productino month May 2004 and June 2004 Limited Appearance trucks using the 5.3L engine were available in white and red and blue (and maybe other colors too). They were available in LS and LT versions. I know because I drove several and looked at several more. They were 2004 and I was doing this in June, July and August of 2004.

My particular 2004 truck has the 6.0L LQ9 Silverado Performance Package (not Limited Appearance Package - which ONLY came with the 5.3L). My truck is white. It is the same height, and appearance from the outside - that the Limited Appearance Package was - same tires, same wheels, same suspension. But mine has the 6.0L and hd transmission.

Incidentally - my RPO codes indicate no badging as part of the RPO number listing. It wasn't accidental on GM's part - it was intentional.

Finally - there were a lot more Limited Appearance Package trucks in 2004 than there were Silverado Performance Package trucks (VHO) - at least that was the case in eastern MN, western WI, upper IA, and upper IL. At one point I found within 140 miles of my town - AT ONE TIME - that there were 18 or 19 Limited Appearance package trucks available and only 2 Silverado Performance package trucks at the same time.

A 2004 VHO COULD be purchased in any color BUT Indigo Blue, I never said otherwise guy. And YES I agree that far more Spring Special 5.3L appearace packages were built than VHO's, as I mentioned they could be purchased in ALL 48-50 U.S. states!! As far as what I said on the 2004 VHO badges, here is what Humar (GM line employee) on the SS Silverado site has said "from the get go":

For the 2004 Model Year we (Oshawa ) only built:

957 - B4V - "Performance Package"
3889 - B2E - "Appearance Package"

The door badges are what's called an "RPA". When the order is triggered to the Plant to build, all the options are put into the system. When we have completed the vehicle and it gets to the end of the Assembly Line with no defects it then goes down what is called the "CARE" Line. They check the vehicle over again and if nothing is found the vehicle is put into "Produced" status. This is when the "RPA" is triggered. It should send a signal to the Parts Warehouse/Supplier to ship those types of parts to the Dealership the vehicle is going to. This works for an number of options - running boards, door badges etc. Anything that GM has designated as "Dealer Installed" that doesn't come in the kit that the Plant puts together. Now based on the issues we have been having with the VHO door badges there is talk of bringing them to the Plant and putting them in the kit. That way we would ensure that the badges were delivered to the Dealer at the same time as the truck.

2nd posting is as follows:

I will see what I can do with getting the breakdown between GMC and Chev. Working on the part number for the badges. More detail is coming out on the issues with the badges. Seems the SPO didn't want to handle the badges and the system was never set up properly. The way it is, if you ordered one of these trucks the dealer had to go ask for the badges. Sounds simple? Nobody told the dealers they had to ask for the badges.

Like I said before we are working on getting the badges back into the Plants...

Re: Is there a GMC version of the VHO?

Greetings 2004vho,

You had posted:
"The SSLEAP's only came in (dark) Indigo Blue paint"

and also posted:
"In 2004 Spring Special Limited Edition Apperance Packages w/ 5.3L only came in DARK INDIGO BLUE METALLIC!!"

And I had posted I believed you were in error - because I personally had test driven and considered this same identical truck in white, red, and blue colors. In the Performance Package - I've only ever personally seen white and black colors in the upper midwest area.

You posted:
"In 2004 there were 2,000 Chevy & 2,000 GMC truck versions produced as either a Vortec High Output or a Spring Special Limited Edition Appearence Package ext'd cab 4X2 truck."

But in a later post you wrote:
"For the 2004 Model Year we (Oshawa ) only built:"
957 - B4V - "Performance Package"
3889 - B2E - "Appearance Package"

Were any built at other plants?

Do you know how I can request a badging kit (I never got badging on my truck)?
