Re: Crankwalk question

there are MANY people that would disagree with you Pinkslip, but thats just your opinion and you are entitled to it, however its not a PROOVEN fact that ALL 4g63 engines WILL get crankwalk. so that is just your assumption and nothin else. just to clear everything up.

Who says crankwalk is bad?!?!?! I just installed one in my car and damn it pulls like a mofo! It's the latest thing...

Okay dude seriously you should only 2% be worrying about something like that when looking for a Mitsu. I'll admit I was freeked out at one point in time too but just make sure you have just a little extra cash on the side incase something happens up to that degree even though it 95% won't.

You are severely misinformed. The vaaast majority of 7 bolts never CW and die of natural causes. Please stop spreading this misinformation. Thanks.

You have no idea what you are talking about, take a hike.

To the original poster: Measure the crank endplay before you buy the car just to be safe. I have 102k on my car, I'm boosting 19psi all day long and haven't crankwalked yet. I also have many friends with 100+k and have had no problems.

I had thrust bearing failure, it ran like a champ up to the day I yanked the engine and never made a single sound. I never would have known I had it if I hadn't had so many problems with the clutch (if you read, that is one of the biggest indications). I also don't think it comes from dogging your car, I would think that it is obvious it is from disengaging the clutch. So the longer you ride that clutch sitting at the stop-light the more you wear that thrust bearing. Also at start-up when there is no oil circulation, so eliminate the start switch so you don't have to push in the clutch to start the engine. It can't be inevitable or there would be no 2g's left on the road because not too many people are going to replace a motor after a few thousand miles.
