Ive been a honda owner since i could drive...but i say there is no way in hell he would run 13's with that set up...but possibly low 14's...if he can drive....my friend Pat had a b18b block with a b18c vtec head, Header, full exhaust, and vtec controller and ran a 14.3....but taht was in a civic hatch....if he has a b16 tranny, he should put down the same numbers on the track as my friend cuz the b16 tranny has the shortest gears out of all the honda tranny's.....my friend matt has a 91 teggi with a b16a1, intake, header, exhaust, jdm head gasket, vtec controller, flywheel, clutch, intake manifold, and throttle body...he ran a 13.9....but i still say there is no way that ur friend will run 13's....hes a typical honda owner...thinks that addin a highflow cat will get u 10 hp cuz ebay said so....seriously some of these honda owners need to read a little....u cant gain hp...u only free up hp the engine already can make...
ask that kid if he wants to race me....i have a 93 gsr....ill smoke his ass..lol....14.1 all motor.. |

VTEC is fun and all but it's not that badass. All these little rice heads think just because they have VTEC they are insta-racers. Honda does have alot of VTEC motors, and only a handfull like the B16A(1,2,3), B17A, B18, H22, and those new IVTEC's are worth a shit. All the D15z1 (civic vx) d16 and f22's suck.

H22A Vtec+6psi from T3/T4 didn't impress me too much... Come to think of it, I couldn't tell the difference between being in "1337 vtec mode," and "T3h lam3 non Vtec mode,"

I didn't read all of these replies... But let me call you out here.
Adding a VTEC head onto an LS (B18B) block adds quite a bit of power onto the stock numbers. And with a closer ratio transmission like the B16 Transmission, and 13 second passes are NOT out of the question. Hell, our H22 powered 1994 Civic Si (Heaviest Civic of that series) hit 13.97... STOCK ENGINE MIND YOU. So if he had an LS/VTEC with some OEM PR3 or P30 Pistons, single layer head gasket, a head shave, some CTR camshafts, and a good CROME tune. He could easily hit 13 second passes. Hell, my buddy Larry over at RPM Performance hit 13.01 with his B20/VTEC. So he wasn't bull Shitting you AT ALL... Most people hate Hondas and Honda owners before they even know what they're talking about. My stock Civic with a D16Z6, and a set of slicks pulled me into 15.97... STOCK. Only 130bhp, and full interior. That's a weak little D-Series engine, no power at all. Not attacking you or anything, but you were in the wrong in that arguement. -Wes

lsvtec's are visky business though, you have a rev happy b16, b17 b18c1, or b18c5 (did I miss any?) head that lives in the 8k-10k department, and the LS block that is all low end. Plus to get the VTEC to function you have to run some homebrew oil-lines out of a tap on the back of the block which tend to break down after a while. like only 2 in ten LSV's are actually built correct, the rest just blow up. I love the innovativeness of the LSVTEC but they are risky. Zed be carefull with the D16z bro, if you chip it don't take it past like 7800 or you blow it. I saw some moron on another forum blow 3 D's because he was making 8k+ run's all day long. D16Z6/Y8's are fun as hell in CRX's though, even if its a mini-me. When I used to have a REX the little group I hung out with was running a build mini-me that was schooling b16's all night. But still guys, where talking 125-180 hp here, nothing special.

Yeah, you don't have to tell me. I have my Rev Limiter set at stock. Only reason my ECU is even chipped was because I had Individual Throttle Bodies on her at one time. Yeah, that was FUN to tune.
![]() Everyone says that LS rods are made to rev into 7,000RPM only... But once again, let me refer to Larry at RPM. He had a B20/VTEC built with only OEM components, stock B20B rods, with B20Z (PHK) Pistons, B16 Head, CTR Camshafts, and Type-R Transmission, revving deep into 10,000RPM and running 13.01. He ran the Hell out of that powertrain, and the only thing that couldn't keep up were the axels... I suppose 5psi slicks will do that to them, haha. -Wes

Just to prove it more he is an idiot, he says he shaved 700lbs by taking out his back seats and back interior....wtf?
