Re: Gm Theftlock Radios And How To Unlock Them

I have a 2000 Chevy Cavalier. I put a new radio in that I purchased off of ebay. It is the same exact factory radio for GM's from 1996-2000 from the information I received. As you guessed, the anti-theft feature is activated and I receive the word "LOC" as soon as the ignition is turned on. I have tried to get the 3 digit numbers by pressing presets 2&3, then 1&4 without any success, it just remains as "LOC." I turn the vehicle off each time before pressing 2&3 or 1&4 without getting the 3 digit number. I'm wondering if I have a bad radio? If there is a way to fix this, let me know please. I do have the serial # from the radio as well if this will help. Thanks so much for the support you guys provide! My email is [email protected].

Re: Gm Theftlock Radios And How To Unlock Them

if you have a rds radio the 1&2 of 3&4 presets wont work it has to be hooked up to a hand held computer at the dealer. it should say rds on the face of the radio near the display .

if not you have to hold the pre-set buttons for a few seconds it had a situation that it wouldn't work unless the vehicle was running. maybe dumb luck i don't know.

anyway if you can get the code write it down

call 1800-537-5140 when the recording begins
press 106010 then * it will ask for your code
enter your code followed by *

it will give you your unlock code.

Re: Gm Theftlock Radios And How To Unlock Them

I have a 96 Astro. The battery went dead. Now my stereo wont eject the CD and it wont let me listen to the radio or change anything on it. After reading the postings it sounds like it is locked. I bought it used and have NO idea what the code might be or how to unlock it. Can anyone help? [email protected]

Question Re: Gm Theftlock Radios And How To Unlock Them

I have a 2004 Chevy Express van. Pulled the factory unit to install an aftermarket radio. Then another. Then another. I finally decided to go back to the factory unit, but it has disappeared. So I got another off ebay, same model/year etc.
I had thought it was completely incompatible with my van, but I realized that every time I plug it in, it will work with the key in accessory position, but when I turn the key to run, it LOCks. Some wire in the harness is telling the radio it's in the wrong vehicle. Which wire would this be?
Any opinions or options, even comments are welcome! I'm just exasperated!

Re: Gm Theftlock Radios And How To Unlock Them

I am very new to this forum...like 5 minutes. However, I had my starter replaced recently on my Astro Van and now the radio is locked up. The dealer wants $56 to unlock it. Could you please send me the info I need?
thanks. Bruce
