Re: How to install a new cd player?
Yes, I race with everything that pulls up next to me at the lights. Only lost a few times. never to a riceburner. "Beating a rice burner is like doing a fat chick, you dont brag about it." ha ha. I only modified the intake, and added a K&N panel filter. Other than that, nother performance wise. Not sure about the cd players, can you match up the model numbers or something?

Re: How to install a new cd player?
yours probably burns them nicely. Mine doesnt..... anymore. I just put new tires on and they hook right up. In a way its a plus, on the other hand, when people say, burn them, I cant. O well. You must have the 3100sfi with the better flowing plenum and the aluminum heads. Thats what I've got. Very good motor, and 60,000 miles on mine, and no blown intake gasktes yet. Knock on wood. take it easy.

i have made my own microcontrolled OBD2 interface specifically for Lumina (VPW protocol) so that i can hook my laptop or my pocket pc with my car and check all the sensor readings while driving or parked...since my device is compatible with many software already availble for free in the market, thats why i never faced a problem checking anything in my car. i keep her well....even a very minor problem. have you ever tried to connect your laptop or pocket pc with your car through obd2 connector while you are driving?....if not, then you are missing something bigtime. |

Re: How to install a new cd player?
well thing is, at best buy the one i want (150 on ebay) is 250, so screw the free installation lol
i have a 3100 v6 thats all i read on the engine lol uhh ya i found an amp my dad bought for a dollar, its like 10 w or somethin, could i use it? with a woofer? my dad has this single 12 inch i think pioneer woofer with a box already, and he has a smaller box with 2 6 inch woofers, and he has a big ass box with 2 12 could the amp handle one of those? edit: also the kit at target would be with all the other car stuff? and for getting the dash off, whats the kick panel? does the dash come completly off or will the steering wheel block it? ok so the kick panel is basically, right under the steering wheel? i saw the screws lol umm, could you take a pic of the box of the din kit/wiring harness box? so i know what to look for? Re: How to install a new cd player?
ok i went over to target today and found the din kits, thing is theres 3 of them
Theres Universal import (which im pretty sure isnt for luminas) GM and Chrysler/AMC/jeep do i get the GM one? edit: man im so stupid i just checked the amp again and its 70w!!! x2 theres a scratch right at the bottom of the 7, and lookin at it real quick its like a 1 but i checked again and its 7!! so ya can a 70w amp run any of the subs? heres my amp (exact same thing) http://cgi.ebay.ca/MOSFET-70Wx2-AUDI...QQcmdZViewItem Last edited by Bboy_Jon; 09-18-2005 at 10:19 PM. |

Re: How to install a new cd player?
yes, that will work with your sub. As for your stereo mounts. Your car is a GM, so I'm pretty sure the GM install kit would be the one to get. Read the instructions on how to set it up, it snaps together in some pieces and once you snap them together, they dont come apart. On your car, there are 2 screws by the drivers feet. Take those out, and just leave the kick panel hang there. Tilt the wheel all the way down, and set the e-brake, and turn the key on, and put the gearshift all the way down in 1. Then grab firmly the dash trim, and pull gently, it should pop off with a little effort. You will have to to a little dinking around with the tilt wheel and jimmy rigging it out, but it will come out. Then there are 2, 7mm bolts I believe holding the stock radio in. pull those, and unplug and pull the radio out. Replace it with your new deck, and put it all back together. I've boceom so used to doing mine, it only takes 15 mins. good luck.

Re: How to install a new cd player?
k so the gm kit comes with the antena adapter and the wiring harnesses? (its the 14.99 one)
and the screws are by your knees u mean? or are they really by your feet/pedals? ive only noticed the ones by the knees But ya ok so after unscrewing the screws, that piece should hang there, then i turn the car on and leave it on? or can i switch it off? then do i just let the bigger dash hang? or can i slip it around the steering wheel? also ill need a amp wiring kit for the amp correct? Should i just get that on ebay? can you link me to a good one? also do you have an amp? Wheres a good place to ground? and is there a good hole in the firewall that i can pull my power cable through? and to get the cable to the trunk, would i have to take out the rear seats? ALso could i mount the amplifier on the rear deck? (the part in the back of the car (not int he trunk) thats right at the top of the seats where the speakers are conencted? could i mount the amp on the other side (inside the trunk) or would the heat get to it, ya i read about that , could i mount it on the inside of the vehicle? or should i just mount it to my sub box? i could just mount it to a piece of wood correct? i dont really feel like drilling into the car Last edited by Bboy_Jon; 09-19-2005 at 12:19 AM. |
