I'll try and get some pics of the last motor I built in the gallery soon.
35k in tools, damn that is awesome!

I would love to see your latest engine.

Looks like a third trip to the junkyard to drop off another junk motor(the first two weren't blown, they were Chevys!) I forgot to mention the '64 Thunderbolt Fairlane that we just finished too. I have had the bug for about 3 years now and I am only 16. I think I'm obsessed. I guess you could say I turn my own wrenches.
Unlike most 16 year olds on here, you have a clue. Infact, I would have thought you much older with your knowledge.

I do all my work, with the exception of major internal engine, transmission, rear end stuff. I do all the interior repairs, and anything that can be unbolted and replaced, just not the internals. I have a good friend that has a shop that I trust for diagnostics and stuff I don't have the know how or special tools.

Sorry, all of the pictures went back to the owner of the car. I should have kept them though since it was my first pay job. My first jobs, a '28 Model A street rod with a built 350/350 combo, and a 1949 Ford mild custom(still working on this one) were to learn the work. A 65 year old man taught me in exchange for my working, but now that I am more able, I get paid. The Thunderbolt was very cool, but we were only responsible for the body and paint. The guy wanted it painted Ford Whimbledon White and wanted the hail damage fixed. He also wanted the 'glass teardrop hood prepped and installed along with painting the interior sheet metal along with the underside. The car is out of our hands now, and in someone elses' for shock tower plates in order to accomodate the big block. I was supposed to cut the old towers out(along with recessing the firewall, and other sheet metal), and weld in new, but he didn't think I knew what I was doing. GRRRRR! I've welded on a complete Mustang II front subframe, I think I can handle some shock tower plates! Anyway, it was a great project but now I am looking for my own, which would be any Mustang from '64-'68, or a '69-'70 sportsroof for very cheap.

Re: How many people here actually pull wrenches on cars?

To the surprise of most of the guys I hang with, I do my own work and work on other's cars too. I've helped set up rearends, done tuning, and built motors. I worked in a machine shop as an engine builder one summer. Oh yeah, and I change my own oil too!
