Telling people to not properly tuneup their engine is ridiculous and the random misfire could be from the lack of a tuneup.

crossing your fingers and hoping it will go away is just someone that is too lazy to keep their engine in perfect running order and wants other people to follow their poor thought out ways to make them feel better.

Girlbear, replace the sensor and do a full tuneup. Get that nice blazer working and firing like it should be.

To everyone else, shame on you.
Actually I said it would not hurt to do the tune up since she already bought the stuff. I would not replace the O2 sensor just yet because it needing a tune up might have been what set the sensor codes off to start with and it was just doing its job. I would do the tune up and then replace the sensor only after another code from it after the tuneup. I would not really call it being lazy not wanting to spend 50.00 that could be much used elsewhere to replace a part that is not needed.

No, the codes are showing a complete O2 sensor failure. This is something that won't be solved with a tuneup, only a replacement.

Even though I disagreed with BlazerLT's comments earlier in this post I "DO" agree with him now. I had very similiar issues, check engine light, running like shit, few hundread miles later and some fuel injector cleaner, back to normal. Few weeks later bang same things, fuel injector cleaner and gone again running fine. Month later same issues arrise. Basically what I was doing was using a bandaiding the real issues and getting my truck to run fine for a short while. Change what needs to be changed and fix what needs to be fix so you don't take the chance of damaging anything else or causing more issues down the line. Good luck girlbear.

BlazerLT has a money tree. I think economics has to sometimes play in to your automotive maintenance strategy.

You don't get it do you, NOT doing proper tuneup and maintanence will COST YOU MORE IN THE LONG RUN.

Being smart about keeping my truck up to snuff has saved me literally thousands of dollars.

Oh Boy Did the Tune up today.... Sort of.

New oil Filter, MAF sensor . Oil, 1st plug and wire. No prob. 2nd the porcalin shaft broke and then it took me and my sister 4hrs to remove the rest of that plug breaking numorous parts in the process. The heat sheild that goes over the headers GONE! The Clips that hold the wires in place all but 2 GONE!! but man she has her Balls back. "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" is still on and After the aggravation I went thru today trying to get the Broken plug out. I was inches from imploding. At this point Im just waiting a nuther whole month to save up the Cheese to have Her fixed the right way. by a pro. I am fed up. I've washed my hands of her so to speak. Aaah I'll probably give it a nuther go in a few days. I need to calm down. Now my Big question how dangerous is it not to have that heat sheild. It was just a thin peice of Tin like thing. Not even sure if it was a sheild. But reguardless its gone.

Did you change out your TPS?

I had problems like the ones you described and it was a TPS...

Paulson, you don't even know the problem so don't post a aimless solution.

Girlbear, did you replace the O2 sensor?

I had already read her problems in this original thread.

I had a broken TPS that would cause sputtering and whatnot...

All she'd have to do is take the TPS off and see if it moved very freely... it'd be an easy test.

It probably isn't the TPS but it could be a possibility... never know.

That will give a code. She didn't have a TPS code, she had a random misfire and a B2S1 O2 sensor failure.

You don't just tell people to replace random sensors when you don't even know what the problem is.

Figure the cause of the problem, THEN help with the solution.

Did you remember to remove the battery cable for awhile so the computer will reset? I know it gave the O2 sensor fail code when you had it scanned so if it keeps up you will need a O2 sensor like LT has been saying. I just don't like to replace parts until I know 100% that they are bad and the code was not caused by something else. After all it did not hurt anything at all to do the tuneup first and still if you still had the O2 sensor failure code.

Re: Oh Boy Did the Tune up today.... Sort of.

The O2 sensor code would be a system too rich code if it was a tuneup problem.

Having the switching, heater and other O2 sensor condition fail is a hardware failure, not something it sensed.

After reading some of the posts in this thread I was wondering what kind of fuel injector cleaner you people are using? Every time I use it, my blazer runs like crap for a few days. And no apparent differance in the over all performance after engine started running right. No SES lights or anything but it runs like I got half the plug wires removed. I finally did find 1 fuel injecton cleaner I can use. Funny thing is I got it from the local Toyota dealership. Its called 44K. Cost me $16 a can but all the others made my engine run crappy.

I actually initially use GUMOUT. But I then on second tank of gas used Dura-Lube. now SES is gone. im going to Advance Auto in about an hour to re-run codes. Ill post'em for you guys. The only concern now is The sheild for the headers. with out it not sure if my wires will melt or more serious catch on fire. on the other hand what do you do when you put on after market headers. Horsepower TV Car and DriverTrucks!Xtreme 4x4

Monster Garage
PMR
Ridin With Funk Master Flex

I watch all those shows never seen any one worry about header heat sheild. Am I too paranoid? or is this a major concern. I have precious cargo 65% of the time. My 16 month old Nephew. Just want to be 100% safe.
