Here's what you do. Take the drivetrain out and throw away everything but the motor. Cut away most of the floorpan and add some strategically placed crossmembers and mount the motor up front. Get a scattersheild and a DRAG RACING clutchless 5sp and bolt them up to the motor with a multi disc clutch in between. Back half the car with a 9" Ford and a 4 link, coilover susp. 12" tires should do.
Then when you pull up to the line and rev the motor to the moon and pop the clutch you won't be thinking about what is going to break next. I bet you would knock at least 3/4 of a second off your ET. Probably a lot more since I don't know how many gears you are using and what final drive you have. You could do it all youself with a 120v Mig Welder and a lot of ingenuity. You can buy a prewelded backhalf that does simplify matters tremendously. |

that would be a great drag setup but hte thing is, hyde is a street car, and hyde also competes in road racing. so by doing a full rear end and relocating the engine would strictly make him competitive in drag racing and nothing else.

Re: New personal best ... night from HELL ... 1.53! ... snap, crackle, pop
As Tat pointed out, Hyde is a street car that is entered in street classes ... the OEM frame/body must be retained for the drag classes and the road racing classes that I run.
Regardless, Vince (aka Talent), who ran the first 9 second pass in an MR2 in North America has his car set up just as you described and he is now brewaking axles more than ever

An FR Mr2? Isn't that blasphemy or something?

No, Talent is not running his MR2 FR?!
I read 500's post way too fast. My apologies. Talent basically "backhalved" his MR2, he has the engine still whre it's suppose to be.
