Disappointment sets in... Got it all hooked up - double and triple checked set-up and connections but the damn thing just wouldn't run. I'm thinking I may have a bad relay. How do I test them?

Yup - Checked it when I pulled it from the bone yard and again during installation to see what wire controlled what.

Ok - stupid question. There are 2 studs on the firewall with braided unshielded cables attached to them. These are grounds - correct?
