You're not taling about a neon are you? No way a neon is pushing 198hp with skimpy mods.

Re: 96 GSX vs. 05 SRT-4

i am actually, an acr is basically a barebones (striped) rt neon. less weight, same 150hp stock motor.

i dont recall the drive trane mods, his weight reduction mods did far exceed those.

but for 198hp, im sure his car weighed significantly less to pull a mid 12. wish i hadnt tossed the magazine or i would try and scan the article, i was actually impressed.

Re: 96 GSX vs. 05 SRT-4

well i dont know anything about 198 hp but i know i passed it a long time ago. im running around
13.5-1 comp. on a 2.4 block completly rebuilt block,
pnp head stage 3,pnp intake 65mm throttle, longtube headers, oh yeah stand alone fuel managment, crane 28's., cry02 intake system. other things but not as big as the listed mods. and run 11's without nitrous. imagine i used nitrous wow

Re: 96 GSX vs. 05 SRT-4

sounds very nice. and quick.

his goal was to see if he could acheive 12s with less and less weight and few mods.

the few mods that do stick out are by no means easy installers, i do rem him having an underdrive pully kit, his ac was also removed, i think he had a more aggressive cam and cam gear set up and he did have some kind of air intake ducting through his front headlamp but i did not catch a under hood shot. im not even sure if all that adds up to 48hp.

but 198 isnt all that much any more but for it to have the capabality to reach a mid/high 12 on just that isnt too shabby.

Re: 96 GSX vs. 05 SRT-4

reminds me of that sport compact car article. anyone read that? where they took that old mitsubishi and stripped it down, eventually cutting off the roof, removing the doors, etc to loose enough weight to run 11s. it was great

I seen that. It's actually on the web somewhere. That was crazy, but funny!
