Re: Eighties Contest Entry: 1987 Wrangler Monte Carlo

Got some work done on the trunk area. The fuel cell is in and the braided line is plumbed through the fuel filter. The oil tank is in and the lines coming off of it are attached. I have to sort out a couple of things as to where they go. All that is left is painting the oil tank cap, and adding the filler and overflow lines and this area is pretty much done. If anyone can comment on proper detail for any of the sub assemblies, please feel free to share!

Re: Eighties Contest Entry: 1987 Wrangler Monte Carlo

well, with Summer 1 starting tomorrow, and me opting to take Cal III I am in a blitz to finish as much as possible today. With the help from a great diagrom from Matt Conte on the oil plumbing. I feel like I've got it all figured out and this is where I'm at.

The oil lines are supposed to pass back into the interior under the dash where they go through another bulkhead fititng. I will probably just terminate the lines and have them reappear in the engine bay at the fittings. They all need to be brushed with a dull coat to knock down the shine.

The engine is just about done, all that is left is some wiring and the lines. It is done with testors and MM paints. aluminum for the tail shaft, front cover/waterpump, and intake. The main body of the transmission and the engine were done in steel, the bellhousing in red, the valve covers were left the satin chrome from the kit, and everything else in flat black. I've been toying with the idea of hitting it with some dullcoat, but not sure yet. I think that once it is in the car it wont matter much.

Re: Eighties Contest Entry: 1987 Wrangler Monte Carlo

Alright. Here is where it sits. I have all of the lines attached to the oil pump. I spent some time fitting and cleaning up the headers and getting them ready for paint. and I finally got around to making the the expansion tank/breather for the oil tank in the trunk. Hopefully Thursday I will get the time to detail the heades and hit the engine with a little smoke to help pick out the details. So far I'm pretty happy with the progress I've made. After a paypal payment clears my account I'll be ordering some PE goodies and hopefully getting this thing wrapped up. enjoy the pics

Re: Eighties Contest Entry: 1987 Wrangler Monte Carlo

Silver elastic cord made by "Westrim Crafts" Item # 183. (good for coolant and oil lines) may need a shot of dullcoat added to tone down the shine.

Silver Elastic cord made by "Westrim Crafts" Item # 176 (Good for fuel & Flex Brake lines) May need to be hit with a little silver paint.

that is straight from the FAQ on badscaleracing.com

Re: Eighties Contest Entry: 1987 Wrangler Monte Carlo

hows about some motorvation. I got around to painting the headers today. I threw WAY too much paint at it. but I like the look. They are still a little fragile, paint wise. pullies and belts are aluminum tubing and masking tape. I also hit the trans and block with some smoke. I made a mistake by already installing the engine crossmember, so I will have to cut that out and re install it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed on that one. lol. here are the pics

look in my previous post. they are items available at Michael's craft store. I've heard of people using cord from mini blinds as well
