Re: B&M shifter
ok i didnt say it was directly connected to the shifting, its a matter of time ellapsed for your engine revs to increase and to drop ie: lighter flywheel = faster rev ups faster rev downs. ive had times when i go from 1st to 2nd and couldnt put my sifter into 2nd untill my revs came down, maybe it was my tranny, but you guys sure love to bust a persons balls rather then tell them what you "know". not all of us went to school for automotive tech. but we can speak from experience, which sometimes is better then book knowledge, not that im sayin i know better then you do, just voicin my opinion which im allowed to do. And yet you still havent told me that the ensersia of a heavy item would not spin longer then a lighter one, ever here of physics? an object in motion tends to stay in motion unless and outside force is introduced.

Re: B&M shifter
You know what makes a lightweight flywheel work even nicer?... a lightweight crank pulley.
Pretty much the first three gears in my Si tranny rev out so fast that I'm shifting like there's no tomorrow. But when I get into high 3rd and shift to 4th 80mph, I can hold 4th for a bit but it's such a short gear anyway I usually shift quick to 5th...

What YOU don't know is that has nothing to do with how fast you shift. Shorter throws, a performance clutch with an organic disc and good clutch/pedal techniques improve shift speed. Not a lightweight flywheel. That second quote of yours doesn't even make sense...are you asking a question or mis-stating an obvious fact? Sheesh, you can't even spell correctly and you're giving physics lessons? OK, done busting your balls. Last edited by Gohan Ryu; 08-10-2005 at 03:14 PM. |

Re: B&M shifter
hey when people make comments that a lightened flywheel doesnt help improve shifting speed from gear to gear that means i dont know what im talking about? you take 2 identical car setups except for the flywheel, same guy wips both, and the stock flywheel setup will do just as quick a time as the lightened flywheel? i think not...and thats all i was saying, that a lightened flywheel i one of the ways to enhance your shifting through the gears. And that second qoute about the "a heavy flywheel would not rev longer then a lightened one?" I was stating an obvious fact in negitive terms cuz it was a question to the people who were doubting my knowledge about the flywheel effects, who some of you dont think i can understand this shit. And if i cant im not scared to ask so i can understand, so thanx for busting my balls when you really didnt need to(what ever makes you sleep better) since you all dont know me.

Saying a lightweight flywheel enhances your shifting thru the gears is like saying a turbo enhances your shifting thru the gears...it doesn't. It makes you reach redline faster so that you have to shift sooner. |

Re: B&M shifter
again that was stated in a negitive way, do you people even read or just throw out stupid answers that state the same things ive been saying the whole freakin time.
" Saying a lightweight flywheel enhances your shifting thru the gears is like saying a turbo enhances your shifting thru the gears...it doesn't. It makes you reach redline faster so that you have to shift sooner." allowing the driver to shift through the freakin gears faster. |

Re: B&M shifter
I don't need a clue - I know exactly what you're trying to say...having a stronger engine brings you to redline faster, thus you shift sooner. You worded it so poorly no one understood you at first. But who gives a shit about shifting sooner, you could have a 20 hp engine...low-gearing will make you shift sooner but that doesn't mean you've got a powerful engine. This thread is about B&M shifters, which is about shifting quicker.
Then you turned out to be such an dork with this "busting my balls" shit and "ever here of physics" thing like you're some kind of physics genius...I just had to point out your stupidity. OK - the end...I'm sure everyone else is sick of reading this thread too. |

LOL...ok that was very entertaining with Gohan Ryu and 91CRXTC...but yea I think Gohan Ryu told us enough about the lightened flywheel it brings the rev up and down faster...but anywayz about the B&M shifter it does make your throws a lot shorter...sometimes even shorter than it says it will...

i cut my factory shifter! i love the feel of my shifts when racing through the gears! yeayea i know it isnt considered a short shifter.. but im happy with it
and it looks real cool with the teg console all short
