The exhaust manifold is actually pretty small and crude. Here's a pic of one cracked one:

Chuck, I could record it on my camera and dump the audio. Or I was thinking since I don't see Rick as often, have him shoot a digital picture with his camera. Most have a 5 second audio recording that they can make with the photo. He can pull that off on his computer.

Hmmm, I think my camera does audio too; didn't think of that. Just have to figure out how to do it...lol!

Schlud -

Just got an email from my dealer yesterday: I'll quote:

"Hi Rich, as we explained before you purchased the Xterra, being Canadian,
it has no factory warranty in the US unless you purchase a warranty. You
still have our 90 day/ 4,000 mile warranty. (the business manager, Ed
Sophia, offered the warranty to you, but you declined it. It is still
available to be purchased if you like). You always have the option to cross
the border to have a Canadian Nissan dealer do warranty work as well. Jeff"

So...This is from a US Nissan dealer, saying if I want a US warranty, I have to *buy* one...

I emailed NissanUSA about this after you posted your response, and I have gotten *no* reply...

Actually, going to Canada is no problem; I'm right on the border (Niagara Falls/Buffalo/Lewiston), but after thinking it over, I'll likely do the parts/work my ownself...

I need to get my warranty changed over soon anyway. I'll dig up the old voice mails from the Nissan USA guy at work and let you know what's up. (gotta love voice mail archiving )

You might try calling instead of snail mail. Your dealer sounds a bit shady. I would keep this in mind when dealing with him.

BTW. I'm confused. What do they mean "before you purchased your xterra"? (was that in Canada?) What's up with the 4k warranty. And who is the US dealer? Something is fishy. I'd keep all the correspondence for when you finally get through to someone at NissanUSA who know's what is really going on.

While we were still negotiating. Before I signed away my next 5 years life savings...

The 90 day/4K mile warranty is the dealers used car warranty. The dealer is Van Brunt Nissan in Horseheads, NY. They're a good 4 1/2 hour drive (one way) from me.

I doubt they're any worse than any other dealer. (The dealer I bought my 88 Bronco II from [new] was indicted for warranty fraud and left the country).

I thought all vehicles were under warranty until the time/mileage in the manufacturers literature ran out, but this seems to be not the case.

I don't really have any complaint about this. I can't afford to give up my vehicle for any length of time anyway.
