Re: Dash lights out

i guess i had basically the same problem. There was an extra ground wire on the harness.(it was useless) and whoever installed it connected the illumination wires to the ground wire and it was blowing the fuse. so i just pulled the extra ground out of the harness and it has been working ok.

Re: Dash lights out

Another problem with the lights is now the tail lights only work when I dim the back lights for the dash. The further I dim the lights the brighter the tail lights get. I figured out what was buzzing it looks like a relay. It was in the dash behind the stereo. The numbers on the relay are as follow:
1057-2 ON THE TOP AND UNDER THE FORD LOGO IS
FOAB 14B193-AB

Any information on this type of problem will be greatly appreciated. If possible can someone transfer this thread to the Crown Vic forum.

Re: Dash lights out

well i figured if you moved all of the thread to the crown vic forum
i would be able to get a little more help in that forum.

I didn't work on the car today but tomorrow me and my dad are going to go and buy the wiring diagrams for the car and start tracing wires and checking switches. hopefully i can get it fixed tomorrow. i need the car by next week when i start college.

also i have a problem with the gear shift and the ignition. The gear shift works fine but the key won't turn back and gets stuck in the ignition. I took out the ignition cylinder and it works when it is out. I think i found the problem there was a plastic ring where the gear shift moves back and forth that is worn out and it slipped out of the slot that it was in. i pushed it back in with a screw driver and the key turned back and came out. the plastic ring slowly works it's way back out when you move the gear shift back and forth.

well if you think that i can get more help in the audio forum than in the crown vic forum then you can leave it here i was just thinking that maybe people that frequent the Crown vic forum would have more info.

you know it's funny how life works it's way out. my car was working perfectly for the last two years and when i am getting ready to move and go to college it starts having problems. oh well i guess i have to just get it fixed and deal with the problems.

Re: Dash lights out

well there is no longer a problem with the lights. They started working again by themselves. i don't know how but everything works perfectly now.
