Re: PROGRESS: 2005 C6 Corvette

Some progress:

Painted with Dupont Millenium Yellow. I made the huge mistake of painting it outside, there's a lot of trash in the paint It'll have to sit down in College Station for a month while I finish up my internship and take a quick trip to California. In the meantime, I'll try to wrap up the engine/interior/chassis work.

Re: PROGRESS: 2005 C6 Corvette

A friend of mine painted his '72 Camaro in Millenium Yellow and had some spare paint

I'm going deep sea fishing with my uncle, and driving my gramma back (SoCal to Midland is a two-day stretch!) She's perfectly capable of driving herself, but doesn't want to. Whatever. I'll get back to the body on this one in about a month, hope it's ready for some serious sanding by then!

Re: PROGRESS: 2005 C6 Corvette

lol. how did you thin the paint? did you use dupont reducer? i picked up some PPG acapulco blue for my 69 gt500 and a future 69 mach 1. i've got some laquer thinner, and that is what i used last time i sprayed PPG.

Re: PROGRESS: 2005 C6 Corvette

I used...some brand of reducer, and some brand hardener. All stuff that came with the paint. I felt like a real chemist mixing this stuff!

I just use Duplicolor reducer with nail polish, though. Haven't had a problem yet.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have progress.

Engine:

I still have some small detail work and touching up to do.

Pedals

Seats (I took an obvious liberty here with the two-tone, but I think it really helps the seats pop a little more...maybe he just stole 'em out of a Z06!)

Brakes:

Next post will contain some of the reference pictures I used.

As promised days and days ago, I've resized some of the better reference pictures I have for this kit. Here they are!

Front suspension, oil pain, etc. Note how WRONG Revell's oil pan is. It's so wrong, I didn't use it. Not sure what I'm going to do. Unless, for some bizzarre reason, I found the one C6 in existance with an aftermarket oil pan. Who knows, the owner play(ed)s for the Dallas Cowboys.

Engine. Yep.

Engine, other side. Yep.

Undercarraige, exhaust etc.

More undercarraige, back to front. Yes it's missing a wheel.

Mufflers, rear suspension.

Center console. Didn't get many inside pics, the salesman wanted to show us everything, so most of the dash pics are mostly arm with a little dash around it. Silly salesmen.

Hmm, wonder what will get more attention, the model or the reference pics?

Re: PROGRESS: 2005 C6 Corvette

Nice work on your model!

Good pics too. I noticed the real car has angle cut exhaust tips and the kit parts are straight cut, but the kit parts still look great.
