I have to agree on the WRX or Supra Twin-Turbo.
I've driven the WRX. I've also driven the Mustang Cobra. I'd pick the WRX any day. It handles much better, has a decent amount of power, will generally be more reliable... and there is tons of mod potential on them. The Supra will be faster than the mustang in almost every way, before and after mods. |

I don't like Mustangs because everybody has one. And nobody really notices whether its a GT, Roush, or Saleen. I'd go with a builder car because all the work you do reflects your personality and if you do crazy enough stuff, nobody else has it.

It depends on just how much more you are getting paid. If it is enough to buy a new car in the range of 20-25,000 dollars, Id lean towards building up the old Civic. If its enough to buy something in the 30,000+ range, Id buy a new S2000 without hesitation. Of course, thats just my personal opinion.
Then again, your car isn't everything. (Here's where I'm starting to show my age.) You could do the responsible thing and save as much as you can for a house or something... Thats not nearly as much fun!

Mustangs are not great cars. 2 of my friends have them, and after they both hit the 20,000 mile mark they started getting problems, including an annoying squeak. Ford cars just arent quality. I'd stick with an import.
I've always been a fan of the 300zx (90-96). Its a really nice, stealthy car, nice interior, a lot of power to begin with, and have the possibility of even more after slapping a dual turbo on it like most of you have probably seen in magazines...

dude, dont get a mustang...you have to be kidding calling that a nice car...
if you want a "nice" car i agree with these guys..go for a s2000, supra tt...something that no one has. i have to disagree on the wrx though..it looks so pussy next to the old 2.5rs..it just doesnt do it for me. that engine looks like a nice deal..but it looks like the rs got raped by a new beetle... even like a jetta 1.8T is a sweet ride..audi TT...ANYTHING BUT A MUSTANG!!

You guys are phycho. WHY would you buy a used RX7 or Supra TT???? turbo, milage, who knows how long it has been beaten on?
Save up for the newest rendition of SVT's Cobra. 390hp supercharged 4.6L. You know people are gonna be messin' with the supercharger and boosting it more than stock. It has ALOT more potential than a Honda Civic or Volkswagen Jetta of all cars to mention. WRX's are pretenders to the real performance market. Sooner or later, the 4 more cylinders a cobra has will catch up, considering that the cars are tuned equally as possible. Think about this.. 390hp, gobs of torque, 6spd, warranty or... 170hp, hybrid, pain to drive, when it breaks... too bad. Don't listen to this "oh its another Mustang.." crap. Do you guys realize that everyone else is saying "oh its just another Honda"? Don't call it a gas guzzler. It's gonna get 22-25mpg.. what does a tuned B-series get? 22-25mpg. Send him off on the right way, where performance is cheap and real. Instead of messing around with 1.8L motors that get crappy mod gains and require a turbo to even be fast, which is a pain in itself. Good luck w/ a Mustang or F-body, you're gonna love it. Burn a few Civics for me, and take some pictures of your smile after you've done your first block-blanketing burnout. Please. I'll make it my icon. please flame me cuz i'm the only one who will stand up for V8's.. I need entertainment |

Id still go with an S2000 over the Mustang!
V8's suck and so do you CivicSiGuy! What kind of moderator are you, how can you even consider yourself a Purehonda member! Traitor, just wait until my d16 is turbocharged, Ill be smoking Vipers on 6psi, and then just wait until I up the boost to 12-15psi, Ferrari's see ya! Then, once I build the engine, Ill be boosting upwards of 20psi and runnin' Juan Montoya's F1 piece of crap. And I will do all of this for under 10 grand, and my car will run for 200,000 miles...now thats the power of Honda, what can your car do!? Bitch. |

My best friend drives a 94' Camaro Z28 and he's done some modding too it.. my favorite of which being his Borla Exhaust system that sounds soooo freaking awesome. Damn 4-banger sounding like a massive bumble bee flying by... My friends car came stock with 285hp, and he's now up and over 350hp with only a couple of mods. I wanted to buy an older Camaro or Mustang but then I realized I don't make enough money for the freaking insurance, but hey, I'm happy with my 2002 Civic and I do still plan on modding the hell out of it once mods are available.... However, in about 2 years I'll be graduating college with a degree and should be making over $60,000 a year... at which time I WILL DEFINITELY BUY AN AMERICAN V8 POWERED RICEROASTING MACHINE, but if I do make enough money I'll most likely keep the Civic and just make it a project car. |

Ya, I thought the finish was a nice touch too.
![]() I actually have absolutely nothing against Mustangs, I loved the old 5.0's back in the day, then they changed in 94ish, and I hated em'. Now they actually seem decent again. Thing is, Ive always heard they have a less than stellar track record as far as reliability and longevity, but I wouldnt know enough about the new ones to speculate on that. My personal preference actually has little to do with Honda loyalty, I just like compact cars. I can't see myself in a V8 behemoth, and even less in an SUV *shudder*. Of course, while we are talking about V8's, I wouldn't mind the nice supercharged one in the Shelby Series 1.
