Re: Re: New car not sure what motor 1990 camaro help identify

well i think we are in agreement that it is a RS badged as a Z, which isnt nessesarily a bad thing, pretty much the only differences were the 350, wonderbar, and suspension upgrades.

Re: New car not sure what motor 1990 camaro help identify

that too

and also, the lady who sold me my RS told me it had an IROC engine special ordered in it, she wasnt really lying, but she thought that because it was fuel injected it was an IROC engine, all it was was the E code TBI 305.

im not upset because the kid i bought it from has no idea about cars and the guy before him did all the work, and with all new tires and for only 1500 i cant complain, the thing that makes me think the swap did take place is that they sprung and bought a cowl hood and the power steering is gone, my buddy has a mirror so we will find out soon enough if the motor really is a 350

The verdict, i could not get a good view of the casting even with a mirror, I am going to say it is a 350, i love this car and how it drives, It can chirp third gear pretty well with new tires on it, and it does so at about 65 mph, which is mind boggling to me since i have never driven a V8, my plymouth laser put down like 300 hp and was fwd and couldnt do that, damn turbo motors, the car can definately move pretty well, my friend has a auto 305 so i am going to run him and see how much i beat him by, maybe ill tape it and throw it up on here for you guys....

my plymouth laser put down like 300 hp

If your Plymouth Laser put down 300hp, what would you figure this car with the V8 is putting down?.....I can't wait to hear this one.

I would have thought you guys would have learned to respect the mitsubishi 4G63 turbo motor by now. 22 psi on stock internals thats a bulletproof motor, thats 400+ horsepower without rebuilding, it can and has been done.

the camaro is not even close in the horsepower department i dont think close in torque or has more, im not going to start an argument with the turbo 4cyl vs. the V8 again The drivetrain and the boost lag on my laser didnt allow me to chirp 3rd gear , if i wanted to i could spin the end of first, then second and yes, then third, my laser routinely beat out 350z with the touring package and minor upgrades, a car that put out 288 stock. But i couldnt chirp 3rd like i could with this camaro, anybody have a good idea on what the 350 tpi puts out? and my laser was much faster than this heavy hunk of metal, i was just commenting on the power that is on tap N/A never had that before, always had to wait for the boost.

my friend is wimping out on me in the camaro vs. camaro race, but im working on him......

Its torque, the TPI motors have loads of torque... over 300 foot lbs. they just run out of breath at higher RPMs, due to such long intake runners and restrictive exhaust manifolds.
