You don't have to take it to Ford. Any professional mechanic should be able to installer an auxiliary transmission fluid cooler - and plenty of forum members here have installed their own. It's not a very complicated job (but I admit, it's a bit out of my "comfort zone"). This is what they typically look like:

The common opinion around here seems to be that the biggest threat to
the Windstar's weak transmission is heat and failure to regularly change the transmission fluid. In the extremely hot temperatures of Saudi Arabia, this
would seem like a particular concern.
