Re: Quarter Mile Times

Oh I'm pulling out of a slump. Realistically I can probably buy a nice fully loaded 17k car around March-ish time w/ trading in my 6er and then save up some extra cash to buy a nice 92 Z w/ 350 for like a grand or 1.5k in the end of the summer.

Better mr. fancy pants?

Re: Quarter Mile Times

FT @ 10/hr is like 1200-1400 a month after taxes (well it was that for me with insurance taken out.) Depends what you want. I need a 100% (ok i know wont happen) dependable daily driver car so when I see flames/smoke coming from the 350 I wont have to stress about calling for a ride the next day.

(I make 14/hr and w/o insurance or anything taken out I pull home about 1800/mo so you get an idea of what to budget. Also I have to support myself 100% mommy and daddy dont think i exist anymore :x btw i'm 20 )

No, I said "I wan't to get a CRX." I like those things. They suck in accidents, yes. But the gas mileage they get is worth the risk to me. It's just hard to find one that's in decent shape and that the owner isn't asking a rediculous amount of money for.

Re: Quarter Mile Times

well i suppose thats a logical reason, but do me a favor, invest in a full interior roll cage. it dosnt have to be anything spectacular, but 1in pipe following the interior edges of the car, tucked away out of the way, would be probly the best investment of your life.

im glad you said that, i was wondering how hard it would be to install a pre fabbed 12 point rollcage? i know just about everything needs to come out so you have access to the areas you need to weld to... but i was wondering about what it looks like... i seen on tv the other night, this guy build cutom roll cages but his style is to keep the cage hidden so you cant see it from out side the car unless your right up on top of it... like you cant see it from side windows or anything unless you are right on top of the car... how much you think that guy would charge for a 12 point in a 2000 camaro? lol, i am deff gonna need a rool cage as speeding is fun but if something happens and you manage to start going side ways and hit a tree it wont be pretty, im just trying to have some speeding fun not die...

I've seen some results of accidents with 4th gen camaro's and I'm suprised with how tough the cars really are. One of my friends crashed his 99 ss, he got hit broadside by a bus traveling around 70 mph, he had lost traction on some sand on the onramp and was hit on the driver's side. It stuffed the a-pillar in about 10 inches, folded the top of the windshield in, shoved the steering wheel into the radio and pretty much wrecked the car. My friend spent 5 days in the hospital, and when things were all said and done he bought the car back from the insurance company. When we were dismantling it, we discovered the passenger side door opened and closed properly. Amazing considering the impact a 15 ton bus had on the car and how twisted the floor was. And yes, he was wearing a seat belt, but it didn't stop his head from breaking the t-top on the driver's side at the initial impact, resulting in 30 stitches.

Re: Quarter Mile Times

If a CRX (or most any other car) was in that accident he would have been dead.

The CRX would have turned into what is left over after you stomp on a beer can. :/

Re: Quarter Mile Times

I suck a driving.

I have a modded LS1 and I am in the 14's.
Of course....I am hoping to completely skip the 13's, and if I find sea level, even skip the 12's.
This season, I hope......

Re: Quarter Mile Times

a 12 point cage in a street car is a tad bit overkill. you could do just fine with a 4 or 6 point cage. and it would be far easier to hide from sight. gotta remember, our girls arent that easy to get in and out of to begin with add a 12 point rollcage, and youll need to get in through the t-tops.
