I think the mom who saw the tape, is bullshitting you. Who the fuck taped it? Seriously?
This would mean somebody saw them doing donuts, taped it, sent the tape to the cops, the cops gave a shit, the cops tracked down your gf, interrogated her mother, and are now launching an investigation. Its a fuckin joke dude.

Either the cops are really bored or someone is pulling your leg.
Was there any property damage to the lot? Was a bystander injured? If not I can't believe a police department would launch an investigation into this. Talk about a waste of resources.
