gas goes thru the pump before the filter, not after.

Rally Sport 92 is right if he's referring to the strainer that goes on the end of the pump in the tank, it's another smaller filter, but normally you would only change it if you're putting in a new pump

when changing the fuel filter dont let gas run down your arms. That shit will itch

The injectors in your 88, if like mine, are the Multec injectors and they do have problems. If yours are not working right, using FI cleaner might make the problem worse. I guess the electrical windings are not made to withstand the cleaner and you'll have problems, or worse problems afterwards.
