DO NOT hose down an LT1 engine, the opti spark will be trashed ($$$$$). Instead use simplegreen and rags. to rinse use one of those bottle sprayers for gardening (the kind you pump up) and keep the water away from the front of the engine where the opti and TPS are.

The 93-94 optispark was non-vented and was more inclined to build condenstation then the 95-97 which had a vented optispark. I always wash my 93 while the engine is cold and have never had a problem. I had some friends that were not so smart and tried to wash the engine while hot and ruined the optispark on a 93. New optisparks for the 93-94 run about $350. wholesale, so be careful.
