Re: future prices

You don't just need money to get a Skyline in the States. You'd need an outright miracle, such as the owner of a previously legalzed car giving theirs up.

No one is legalizing Skylines anymore. Motorex is pretty much history, and RB Motoring is waiting for approval to do work on the cars.

You could do this...

If you have done your homework you know you could have a Skyline state legal and save all that motorex cash for mods, but then again I can see this kid get a Skyline as a first car and not properly reg it at the federal level get in a wreck and have a huge write up in the paper about how illegal imported cars should all be crushed, which I really hope does not happen.

Anyways if you did your homework like I did there is another way too. You just have to look hard enough.

yeah man the poimy of the forum is to SHARE information not hoard it. answer people's questions when you know the answer, one of the biggest running arguements is about legalizing skyline, so if you have some other way of doing it (which i really really really doubt) sharing it would be greatly appreciated by all, i am sure.

hypothetically, if motorex was still legalizing skylines....no that would not be possible. the cars HAVE to be brought in by a registered importer. the car can ONLY be brought in by a registered importer. after the car reaches the RI, the car MUST be legalized before being released onto united states streets.

Re: future prices

no......its not legal. the cars still have to be brought in by an RI, but they cant be legalized. so then the car would sit at the RI for years and years and years (depending on the year of the car). 2014 is when we can get 1989 r32's free and clear, and personally...with that deadline quickly approaching, i dont see any RI's really stepping up to the plate to pick up motorex's slack.

Re: future prices

This is alittle off topic but, can you get a skyline for race/show use and not have it be 25 years old, or legal?

the major difference is the laws for importing cars into canada vs into the states. In canada it only has to be 15 years old right, so it hasnt been modified to the american DOT's specs. just because its was legal in canada doesnt negate this fact.

I thought the skyline was your dream car kid. Don't give up on it, it may look impossible currently doesn't mean that It will still be impossible when you are able to drive. Sh*t Miracles can happen right? Anyways the S14 is a good car and converting a 240sx to a S14 or 15 is another good idea but until you know for sure that you can't get it, don't give up. Some of the people got it, just keep searching and something will come up. I am currently looking for ways to bring a skyline in the states and still no cigar, so I have nothing to share with you even if i wanted to. IF something comes up I will definitly let you know kid. I have heard other people thinking about starting a business importing skylines and such in the states, its a long shot, but hey as I said its not impossible.

[quote=jmrev]your dream? i dont know if you have noticed all of the other noobs that ask about Skylines in the states... thats every 13 year olds dream...

I'm 23 and that's my dream car. In my opinion you need to just leave him alone. If that is want he wants to do then let him do it. I don't hear him asking you for the money to get it, just help with how to get it. Just to let you know kid if i find any helpful information for you i'll let you know

I do believe that is the essence of the forum. those of us with the same interests discussing these sort of things and letting each other know the information we have. just my interpretation though...
