Re: Turbonator

Yea, I drive about 330mi one way about 10 times per year, but my TB is starting to see more time in the city, and no decrease in mileage. Only see about .5-1mpg in the city though. The 4.2L engines use a drive by wire system, so no throttle cables, just some wires connected to a computer. The TBs have gear ratios of 3.42 (std) 3.73 (what I have) and 4.10. I tow enough to warrent the 3.73s, plus that was what the dealer could get. Also, I agree with the turbonator/etc stopping airflow intown, but I bet it does it all the time.

I have come to the conclusion about Throttle Body spacers that they might vary by engine, and the vehicle they are in. Ex, the 5.3L V8 in an regular TB vs a Tahoe.

Re: Re: Turbonator

Ok maybe your right on TB's because I haven't used one. But I'm going to stay hardcore here on this one and just politely say "I just REFUSE to believe they work when fuel gets injected into the head" That wasn't there design intensions. But hey maybe I'm wrong also.

Atleast we cleared up the Tornado/TurbinHater thinga ma' jiggy's and agreed on that. Also I don't think my Dad did so well on his fuel average check, 1 short interstate trip befoe & after installation. So I'm assuming he's just out $50 on the highway also.

To anyone else reading this if your "REAL ANAL" about checking your mi./gal LOTS of times before you installed a Throtle body. And have checked it after installation SEVERAL times again please give input also. I'M DUMB FOUNDED HERE!!!!
I just REFUSE to believe the Laws Of Physics can be broken with a slab of metal.

Re: Turbonator

I installed a Tornado a Taurus GL, the car is fuel injected V6 engine, but I also installed a K&N filter and inproved the air intake, bigger flex tubing so it can get cool air from the front gril. I also use the performance oil addiitive that make oil come up the engine parts faster, (they sell it it at Kragen auto Parts) its the one with the 3 gears with oil demo that you turn by hand the demo they have in the store> All that did make a big difference, more power and speed. but it was after the K&N air filter that a notice a major difference . It wont hurt, if you want to intall one Tornado, it sure wont hurt.
