I got owned by an eclipse today.... (my car might be having probs, suggestions?)

no stock psi on a supra is 11-12 mine is at 7psi right now and i just did the TTC mod that was hopefully gonna fix the problem, but now im running at 4psi max... im thinking my second turbo might be bad, or the wastegate is just all messed up or who knows, but ill be trying to find answers soon, as i really do need to beat 14.9 at the track and gain the supras repetation haha

all i know is if i got 14.9 with 7psi... at 12psi how it should be, ill prob be in mid 13s with no prob!! and for that... i cant wait!!!

I have now found the sourse of my problem, after all this time!! No wonder it was so hard to figure this out... the butterfly flap in the EGCV where the bottom actuator is supposed to open (the one that you wire open when doing TTC mod) it broke off... not the whole thing, but just the lever part connected to the actuator.

So thats why when i did the TTC mod my car was only pushing 3 psi max at any given RPM or gear. After i did TTC and it didnt help, then i went back to sequential mode and it made it worse than when it was before the TTC mod. So then i decided to try and do the TTC mod and be sure i do everything right. When i went to the the bottomr actuator, i disconnected the C clip that is holding the lever to the rode and i played around with the lever and it just pulled out like nothing was holding it inside!! so im all crap.. no way!! my butterfly was broken and it could be close or fully open when ever it feels like it haha. SO...I pulled my exhaust and DP off and then i got into the EGCV pipe and i broke off that butterfly flap completely, now i have 2 holes on the sides of the EGCV pipe. So i closed those up with some exhaust gasketmaker stuff lol.. i knew it wasnt gonna hold, but i did it just for the heck of it.

So with no butterfly in the EGCV pipe i had to ofcourse wire open the top actuator so im not at permanent TTC , wich is nice, because i dont have to worry about blowing up the #2 turbo.

So after i got everything done and put the car back on the ground i decided to go for a little drive around town and see what boost i get this time.

I was etting 9psi max easy and it holds it all the way to redline with no problem as well. After a few hard pulls, one of those side plugs on the EGCV pipe finally gave out and now i hear and exhaust leak, wich is not a problem because ill get that taken care of when ill be doing the downpipe and the exhaust in about 1-2 weeks or so.

I just today did the wastegate spring mod, wich will keep the wastegate VSV closed for a little longer and letting me boost a little higher, and hopefully at stock levels of 11-12. Once i get my 11-12 stock psi back then ill be a happy camper and ill take it to the track next wednesday and try to get into the 13s!!

Ill also try to relocate my boost vacume line to different locations to see if the boost will varry from spot to spot. Some people say it does. Mine is connected to the intake manifold nipple almost right next to the throttle body, so the boost might be slighty less there, and i might be at 11-12psi max like i should be on a stock supra just my gauge is a little off in different locations. People say hooking them up to BOV vacume line is the best sourse. So we will see. If i hit boost cut with my spring mod then im sure over stock psi. boost cut hits at like 13 i believe.

here are some pictures of the EGCV pipe i was talking about, and the butterfly flap inside that i had to smash out, and also you can see the holes that i glued up there... also you will see a few pictures of the wastegate mod,... so if you ever plan on doing neither, hope these help you. (first pic is the braket piece that holds on to the buterfly flap.. you see it was broken off. i have no idea how, buw i heard a few people with this prob)

i disnt understand much of that but im learning at the end of this year im going to leave school become a mechanic and i will start learning alot more and cant wait until i become a mechanic. so your on the way to fixing the problems hopefully wont be long until your supra is running 11-12psi and doing 13s down the quater mile. Just out of curiosity im going to be looking for a car soon and i was just wondering if you were to sell your supra how much would it be for??
And would you advise for me to buy a sup or a 240 ive always had them 2 in my mind since i was 10 lol.

well if you ever want to talk about what you didnt understand, i can clear it up for you, im always on AIM at GT500916

As for ever selling my supra and how much, well, if i was gonna sell it right now, i would not let it go for less than $25k its low miles and 5 speed and i changed all the tranny and LSD oils and chcked everything and according to my knowledge this car has been mentained through its whole life. Oil was always changed in the engine every 3-5k miles, no smoke at all indicates this car was taken care of and the turbos dont smoke or eat oil, meaning it was not pushed to its stock limit. Also the clutch is still original meaning again, it wasnt pushed to its max, also treanny fluid is clear and redish, like new... so again, all the signs point to my conclusion that i got really luck with this car, since it was a one owner who mentained it through the dealer all the time, cuz he knew nothing about supras therefore all the work had to be done by the dealers, or other shops.

Supras value is going up and i doubt it will stop going up. Now about the 240, those are great cars as well... but i preffer the supra because its awesome!! and i was gonna turbo my 240 but here in CA regulations suck, so thats why i had to get a stock turbo car so i dont have to worry about that. I dont know what state you live in, so i dont know what your state will allow as far as moding a car. But if you have no regulations and want a fast fun car, id go with the 240sx and put a turbo on a stock KA motor, The engine can safely hold 400hp and the crank on the stock KA engines holds up 600hp with no prob. Depends how much HP you want. With stock 240 engine you will get 400 and its lighter, so would be more controllable than a supra, but supras potential is 900hp+ on a stock engine... so you do the math and its what you want. cheaper yes... but you get a 240sx for say whatever price and get turbos and parts and all the work on and on... and you might even spend as much as a stock supra.. its all about what you want. i have both, and my stock 240 doesnt compare at alll!!!

I live in aus and 25k in us dollars is about 40-45k over here thats a fair bit for a stock but well maintained supra, over here you can buy a 600hp+ supra for around 35k au dollars. i think i would get a supra if i had the cash but i dont know if your familar with it but a 180sx is what im looking for its similar to yours but looks different and is cheaper than your model.
