Yes the red or orange is Dexcool, the Prestone Extended Life is green. I highly recommend the Prestone Extended Life. It works for me. Its in the OAT (organic acid technology) family which is what Dexcool is based on. Best part is if there is any residual Dexcool even on a good flush there is no harm when the two mix. Doesn't hurt aluminum radiators, engine components, or plastic.

Its sold at all the national auto parts stores. Pep Boys, Autozone, Checker, etc.

Reminds me I have to flush the water out of my system and replace it with mixed anti-freeze. I really hate the drain plug location on my GA, it's the likely reason why I conveniently forgot to replace the anti-freeze.

Thanks for the help. Everything went pretty smoothly except for the weather. It rained saturday and then today it was sunny but thundering!?! I managed to sneak everything in though. I put the 180* stat in while i was at it. The only major problem i had was the damn drain plug. That thing was on there pretty tight. I had to get the car jacked up and look at it from inside the fenderwell to see that a hex key fits to turn it! after that had to pry it loose with a screwdriver. knowing that would have saved me some time so FYI to anyone who is going to do this in the future!!

Glad to hear you got it done even with the bad weather. Maybe you can send some that that rain down here...lol.

On the radiator drain plug I found the best tool to use is a 1/4 " drive ratchet or 1/4 " drive with a straight handle. It fits just right.

i just put this prestone extended life coolant in my system the other day after i flushed out that shitty fuckin dexcool crap...must have been in there since car was new in 99, thats almost 6 years and i know all that sludge probably wasnt flushed out by water.....but anyway it works good keeps my engine nice and cool..i never knew you could keep the radiator cap above on jacks and you wouldnt need to bleed the system...maybe thats why i couldnt get any air out, makes me feel alot better knowing that now

that reminds me..i think i did the same thing.. when i went to bleed the air out it didnt take long at all for the coolant to start flowing..and it came out as all coolant but in spurts. should i wait for steady flow out or do you think its good?

i guess your suppose to bleed it a few times when the engine is at operating temp, if it spurts im guessing theres air coming out but im not sure...i only did it twice but only coolant flew out, so i think im alright, i dont notice any problems...for the little bit that flows out, id say bleed it until only coolant flows out for a few seconds, it doesnt take long...good luck
