What's up Geo and my G20 brothers.
OK. I think this thread is pretty ridiculous. Why would ANYONE here be concerned about leaving the oil in their car for 7.5K miles? That comment about the engine blowing up is either hyperbole or just plain ignorance. Your engine will definitely not blow up if you follow the basic maintenance schedule recommended by the manufacturer. Just think about it. If changing the oil at 7.5K intervals causes serious and immediate engine damage, would the manufacturer recommend this? Of course not.
That said, I tend to fall somewhere in between. I change my oil at approx 5K mile intervals (easier to remember). I also use Mobil 1 and OEM filters. Once, when I was really lazy, I've left the oil in my car for about 9,500 miles (hoping that Mobil 1's added protection would be able to handle this longer interval). You know what? My P10 has racked up close to 100K miles and it has not had any problems whatsoever. It *STARTED WITHOUT ANY HESITATION*. Can you believe that?
Also, about the synthetic blend vs. full synthetic. It has been shown that synthetic oils such as Mobil 1 simply provide the best protection for your engine. All this anecdotal stuff about your car feeling smoother when you put the synthetic blend in, is pure subjective opinion. EVERYTIME I change my oil, my engine ALWAYS feels smoother. Yes, I've tried dino juice, full synthetic and synthetic blend. To me, at least, it feels just as smooth regardless of the type of oil you put in.
