everyone acts like the v8 is the end all engine, they aren't that fast LOL....... in fact the only v8 I've ever been in that has impressed me is a Supercharged SVT Lightning.

theres a guy on here somewhere with this in his sig.....

"I thought v8's were supposed to be faster then this"

that is god damn hilarious.....

The cheapest route is not the best... id take a Rb20DET or any v8 anyday

Rb20DET's can be had for One Thousand dollars....

It just takes away from the appeal of the car when it has a v8 in it. Whats more spectacular a 240z with a SB carbed 350 or a 240z with a RB turbo'd?......

I know when im browsing through pics of Z's the RB ones catch my eye and I just scroll right past the v8 ones.....

i voted for the 240z because IMHO it is the pretiest of the cars even though it has a slower engine. i fell in klove with it the first time i saw one. and the first one i saw was pretty beat up lol

I love them all . . . but I voted for the 280ZX, because it was the first Z I bought, restored . . . and still have.

Thumbs up 240Z

As for what Datsun I like most 240Z. I am a 240Z owner so that was easy. There are other reasons. The 240 was the lightest of them all. The pounds kept being packed on with age. The 260 started the BIG box bumpers so the looks started going down hill there.
I know its a shot in the eye BUT the Datsun Z NEVER had a X with it. That would be a Nissan ZX
I am far from saying anything bad about the ZX There are many killer ZX's out there. But they are the ZX not the true Z. IMO the true Z went bye bye with power junk like power window locks and so on. I want a true sports car no power toys just 2 seats with all the power put under the hood where it should be.

Well I do remember Datsun badges being on the 280zx and the first 300zx. I guess it was my imagination? As a Z enthusiast you should've known that. I won't argue with you either about 240's being the best. Im looking for a 300zxtt or a 240z, I would much rather have the 240 though so I could throw in a turbo'd L28. It might not be a classic in the eyes of most people, but it sure is to me.

As for the ZX, it was really necessary for them to throw the power goodies in there. It's what made the ZX's more appealing than other sports car of their time. Power, luxury, and looks. How could you go wrong with that? The turbo was also an added bonus.

Should have but... Ahhh you got me there I dont remember because I never have given the ZX much thought. Sorry.

I know, It was part of the times. In my eyes it was the start of the luxury wars and that was not a good thing. Every car maker in the 80's started in with so called luxury add ons. Then as a backlash the price on them went too the moon.
So now you get to deal with finding dumb parts like switchs, window motors, even cup holders. Dont get me going on all that plastic stuff.
In the world of sports cars. Less is more and cup holders can stay in the parking lot with the mini vans.
Sorry just the way I feel.

Hey I could've used a cup holder in my Z on my long trips! Of all things they added to the ZX im suprised a damn cup holder was left out. Who the hell needs headlight washers? Really? I did like the electronic adj. suspension though, it was kind of ahead of it's time since the ZX was one of the first cars in the states to feature something like that.

You're right about all the accessories though. When I get in a 240 I don't expect any power windows, locks, or anything like that. The car just feels right the way it is. Sitting in a ZX though it would feel kinda bare without the extra things. You've got all that extra room compared to a 240 and need some things to fill it.

I have a friend and a client that is dropping his LS1 into a 75 280Z (well a whole new drive train) he owned a 2001 TA and he ran 11.8 at texasspeedway numerous times. that engine and tranny combo will be powering the 280Z. I cant believe anyone would concider that to be slow. with the over 1000lbs diet its gonna be insane.
