I think for the most part the entire Mitsubishi line, with the exception of the Evo, has put on lots of weight. At least in looks the cars seem to be heavy and boring. I remember Mitsus sportier, leaner days of the 3000GT, the 89-03 Galants (VR4), the 92-03 Diamantes, and 2nd Gen Eclipse. Recently their designs have gone to hell in a hand basket.

Just my

Some of my next drawings will be focusing on Galant and Lancer.
With the new Eclipse being based on the Galant platform, you are right about it putting on more weight and being a bit less sporty but the fact is they want to run up more competition to the Scion Tc or Tiburon. As for the Galant I think it could of been worse and it actually has decent performance for a mid-sized sedan. Just take a look at the Galant Ralliart for example which will go into production, or at least most of the modifacations.

Tis a shame it doesn't come with AWD. It would not be that hard or at least finding parts wise since you just have to bolt right up a whole transmission unit from the EVO VIII, doing it yourself might get labor intensive and if the bolt patterns are indeed the same. But for the auto company to do this is pretty inexcusable. This can also apply to the new Eclipse as an aftermarket idea for some.

Re: Mitsubishi Eclipse Concept

95-99 was my fav. year for the eclipse too. The only thing I had against it was the lump in the middle of the hood. Or was it more towards the right side? You get the point
