I checked with the local autoparts store and they can't check transmission codes with their scan tool. It does it so infrequently that I decided to use it as is for now. They probably have a scanner that does generic codes only. Most tranny codes will be manufacturer specific, therefore the scanner must have the capability to generate these such as P1XXX. Shops or dealers with a Tech II machine can check for transmission codes.

I have a friend with a '01 Impala LS who has the same problem and he has been living with the problem for about a year and it hasn't gotten any worse. The Lubegard helped.
