Well, it's been a while since I posted any updates on this build but I have been working on it some. I'm using some washes and some dry brushing to bring out the details in the "metal" parts (plastic that's supposed to look like metal). Anyway, I'm making slow progress but mostly because I'm working on other kits at the same time.

Here's a bunch of pics...

Chassis picture, not much done here yet.

Close up of part of the front suspension. Master cylinder and steering mechanism... that actually steers.

The dash, I added a few more knobs and switches, it'll also get some wiring.

Engine cover / fan shroud, has been fiberglassed with nylon cloth and liquid cement.

Turbo Parts, painted flat black and dry-brushed with dark copper.

Brake calipers, painted flat black and dry-brushed with metallic grey.

A couple of engine pics, painted with cast grey metallic and dry-brushed with aluminum (engine block) and steel (trans) nuts and bolts picked out with various metal colors.

Portion of the interior, more fiberglassing of the foot pad using a different material than before (fabric softening dryer sheet).

Lots of white parts to polish, it took one can of tamiya grey primer, one can of tamiya white primer and 5 cans of tamiya pure white to get a decent finsh on all the parts.... ouch!!!

Wheels and tires.

Headlight assemblies and cooling radiators.

Rear swing arms.

Fuel tank, filled with a mixture of red food coloring and water. Hopefully it will stain it over time and once I empty it it will look like it contains racing fuel.

Just one small collection of the many parts yet to be stripped, painted and detailed.

Wow.. some really great work there.

This one should be my next project (humm this fall ?)

Anyway, I would apreciate a small tutorial on "fiberglassing". Your result look VERY great. I would love to do as good as you.

Bring on the How to please

Edit: What kind of paint do you use for metalic part ? Metallizer ?

I can only say wow, I have enjoyed this pictures very much, perfect painting job on all of the small parts.
And I agree a little how to on fiber would be great.

Re: In Progress Tamiya 1/12th Porsche 935 Turbo

Thanks for the great compliments....

I would be happy to do a tutorial on the fiberglassing. I still have a few pieces to do so I'll take some pictures as I do them. Then I'll post up a "how to".

The metal paints are a combination of paints. The brake claipers, turbo and engine block are done with a very dry brush tamiya acrylics. The trans is dry brushed with Testors Model Master enamel steel color. The swingarms are done with various testors metalizers.

It should really come to life with some additional wiring and plumbing.

Horizontally opposed beauty This kit must be fun! All those thousands of parts to fiddle with to get perfection. Good luck on this. Looks really nice.
