My first truck was a 81 Dodge Ram 1/2 ton......225ci Slant 6, putting out a whopping 110 horsepower, with a 4spd manual transmission...(ok, this thing was damn slow....I mean, you had to have atleast a 1/2 mile to pass, no joke) Age 15
And MY vehicle is a 89 S10 4x4 (forget it, read my sig)....age 16 (now i am 17)

Re: Your First Car

first car i drove was like 88 new yorker. Second car i started to learn in was a 1999 cougar. The car I learned to drive in was a 1999 grand marquis (V8 baby)
My first car was a shitty ass 94 grand am. thats all the money i could save before i had to go back to my second semy in college. It broke down so my second car was a 98 stratus. I used my tax money and the money i was savin for for keepsake to get it. My eclipse was just play toy. I don't know what it feels like to have car brought for me. If i had a good car brought for me I would be riced out right now.

Re: Your First Car

First car I ever drove was a 1996 Honda Civic VTi 5 speed which belonged to my mum.

Learnt to drive in an AA Nissan Pulsar for the most part (A 1999 model, not all that bad)

Then I got my first car a 1991 Volkswagen Jetta, one of the last ones ever sold in NZ, was a 1.8 Carbie and a manual, absolute tons of fun and probably the most robust engine in the world (230,000 km's and the engine was like new). Such a shame I totalled it, that's when I learnt as well as being the most reliable cars from the time, Mk II Golf/Jetta's are also probably the safest.

Only other car I had was a 1994 Civic LX manual. (1.5 Carbie) Thrashed it for 9000 Km's and never gave me any worries, wasn't as fast as the Jetta though. I sold it for the price I paid for it as well. Magic.

I'm hoping my next will at least have fuel injection........

Re: Your First Car

I 'learned' to drive on a 1949 Ferguson TEA 20. This was a nice farm tractor. There are still lots around today. I was only 7 years old (1973) but since it went only 15 mph in top gear, my folks thought I would be safe.

The first car I drove regularly was a '77 Jeep Wagoneer. It had the super-rare 401 cid V8. A terrific vehicle but it succumbed to rust in only 6 years.

Cars I learned on and inherited:

1988 dodge 600 SE
1989 Ford bronco 2

Then after they both died within 6 months of me driving them I inherited:

1991 Ford taurus station wagon = pimpin

After I got tired of that I scraped together 600 bucks and bought my dis-illusioned 16 year old brain's dream car:

1989 dodge daytone ES

After I blew a fist sized hole in the engine block I bought myself a:

1996 plymouth neon (biggest pile of crap i've ever driven)

Then after a short stint back in the Taurus I bought my 93 gs-r and she's been taking my abuse for about 3 years now with no complaints.

Re: Your First Car

My first car was the car I learned to drive in; a 1986 Pontiac Firebird with a 3.4L motor swap. My brother hit a wall and flipped it at about 120 km/h, luckily noone died but it was a close one. My second car, the first stick I drove, was and still is a 1996 Dodge Neon. My family also owns a 1985 RX-7, and a 1990 B2200, both of which I drive alot.
