Re: Whats better

Brainwashed? is that why RE will ass rape DEI anyday of the week? or is that because nothing directed compared to the XXX line?
XXX18 required HUGE ammounts of air space. 4cubes sealed an 6.5 minimum ported. optimal would be in the 10cuft range ported.
it isnt that XXX's dont like sealed, its that they arent as efficent as the brahma. what may take a brahma 15 to reach mechanical limits you can tripple to do the same with an XXX.
2 15's > Surface are than 1 18 but 2 15's need ~1.5x's the power to get as loud.
1 ported XXX18 properly powered will beat alot of multiple w7 set ups and will kill most single w7 set ups. 13's or not.
Try 1 XXX 18 7cuft tuned to 28Hz with 2kw and see how you like it ....if you can hear afterwards.

Re: Whats better

Its an 89 s10 blazer so i got some space im going to get some spray in sound deadener so it wont rattle(as much). I had 2-infinity perfects, and 2 polks(it was the beater system from hell and the roof rack would jump about an inch on the beams. I would love to do a 2-18 setup but man that would be fucking heavy, if i can afford it i might eventually jump to that. How much over rms rating can the re handle. Im expecting about 800 for the sub maybe less not sure yet and about 500-600 for a nice amp so a 2-18" setup would be bitchin. Whats some good amps to look at ive looked at precision power an ma audio(not worth the time) any suggestions would be good.

Don't ever look at cars as just imports or domestics. Just because a car is made in a certain country doesn't mean that it is anything like another car from that country. An example of this is Mitsubishi reliability, just because they are Japanese doesn't mean that they are as reliable as a Honda or Toyota.

Re: Whats better

2000 was the minimum i was planning on spending i was expecting between 2500 and 3500 after all is sadi and done. Speakers, hu, subs, box, amps and so on. I wanted to start looking at subs then work my way to amps then speakers already decided on hu. Besides the RE looks bitchin even though its not an actual pic. Im still looking at precision power and i started looking a hifonics any word on them.

Re: Whats better

As far as subs go stick with IA RE or AA...... since u gotta little bit extra to spend on and amp..... shit u should get an IA 20.1 on a pair of dual 2 ohm subs and run that bitch .5ohms daily. Pair of sx18's for sql little more on the spl side pair of avalanche 18's for a little more on the sq side.....hit up djdilliodon on AIM for components from CDT and get whatever HU u like form a realible brand...... where u located I wanna set this shit up....????

Re: Whats better

I live in st.marys maryland, the only thing im really going to need serious help in is a vented box. I can build sealed boxes all day long but vented thats a something i dont want to try again without some guidance. Im looking at a panasonic hu cant remember the model, but il most likely get the RE or the IA.

Re: Whats better

Better look into a pair of airbags for those airhogs unless you are using something like Lexan or fiberglass.

Re: Whats better

No im thinking of using 1inch mdf. I already looked into a box last night i came up with a 20"x20"x25" for 5 cuft and then i need to look into a port design. Im thinking 2-18"s it came to me in a dream, if im looking at 2-15"s then fuck it. I figured that 1500-1750 would be good for power for each im still looking at precision stuff. I seen pricing somewhere and it said like 499 for an 18" and like 449 for the 15" not sure but hell il dump an extra grand into the truck for more bass.

Re: Whats better

That little truck will look like ass with all that weight in the back. Also, 1" MDF is overkill for those subs. 3/4" with bracing should do just fine.

Of course, that's just me. I try to keep the system as light as I can. It makes me laugh to see some bumping car looking like it's hauling fat chicks in the back.

I did a system with 8 12's in a TrailBlazer. I had to install airbags on the back so it sat level. I had just over 5 cubes of internal space in the enclosure. Without the bags, the ass squatted 4".
