I wish people would stop guessing what the R35 GTR will look like, If I were Nissan I would be making sure it was a killer, Look at the hype... it better be.

I heard a little rumor that the name GTR was no longer owner by Nissan and a side company was producing the new GTR,

All I can say is that it will be interesting, I hopefully damn good.

First on the WRX, I like the older cars look better. But have to agree that the cars ability more than out weight the looks. At least it doesn't look like some of the horrid body kits people put on their Civics and other riced out cars. In the end it could be worse, plus if you don't like the look of a car a body kit is out there that will help you fix it to your taste. As long as you start wiht a good car looks are fixable.

As for the GT-R, there is no way I see Nissan giving up the GT-R name and allowing some other company credit on making their top "Sports car". Now if you are talking about a Nismo 400R based on the new model ok I can see that, but you would still go to a Nissan dealer to buy one.

Either way it's wait and see time to find out WHAT Nissan has planned. One thing we all agree on (IMHO) if Nissan get's it wrong we will all be sure to tell them:finger:

I have to second the opinion about Nissan forever retaining the GT-R in its household. Being a major contender in the JGTC, why would they suddenly drop everything and leave, or worse yet, hand their earnings down to another brand? The sport factor is one of the few solid characteristics that keeps people buying Nissans. Even in the U.S. (which may be considered hostile territory for Nissan considering how many of their products have been cut) Nissan strives on with their new policy of leading class by power. If Nissan plans to drop their flagship grand tourer, they might as well just fold now.

Same theory, different approach:
It could simply be that parent company Renault is planning to use the GT-R's design for one of their own models. Bought out/merged companies tend to share their toys.

Win on Sunday, sell on Monday, right? Same goes for the WRX, though not in JGTC.

No No NO, I did not mean they are giving the name up but while they consentrate on other things such as family models where the money is ,some other side company works only on the GTR.
Still sold at Nissan but just called a GTR. I am not 100% sure as I said was a rumor I heard.

OK so it's just a rumor you heard, cool no prob

Only can you clarify if they (whoever you heard the rumor from) mean that Nissan USA or Europe or even Renault is doing that or is it an outside company ie Nisimo is working on the design?

I know it's only a rumor, but thus far everything till the day Nissan puts out the final model is all rumor so more info to stir the pot can be just as much fun. Oh and it gives us something to complain about while we wait:licker:

Now THAT'S the spirit! All in all, I think that Nissan won't dissapoint us. Every automaker that has received directional support from a purchasing company has been successfully reborn. Look at Jaguar and Audi, for example. They are making a great comeback with the help of their parent companies.

Or even Land Rover! OK bad example:finger: For you LR lovers I'm just kidding, last I heard Ford got em so we should see some great British cars soon.

Actually I just read an article yesterday that talked about how Nissan was begining to do financially better than Renault. A turn around? Not unheard of. There is hope for us yet:sun:
