An update, finally. I did lots of work on the body to get it right. I started the mods on the bumpers. I could have bought me a set of fat golf bumpers, but thet would have to be modded to the fujimi body and rallye model, and shipping them costs a fortune, so i'm taking the original ones from the kit and modify those with styrene sheet an putty.
Further, doing some work on the chassis, where the rear axle and drive shafts will be. I also shortened the floor plate at the front and extended it at the back, so there will be room for the exhaust and fuel pump from the revell golf.

And yes, after a very long time of waiting patiently, I recieved a resin copy of the G60 engine from Revell's Corrado in the mail today along with a set of wheels.
I immedeatly started cleaning up the parts and did a mock up to see how it will look like.

Please let me know what you think!

Re: Progress: VW Rallyegolf

I think this will be one of the most anticipated threads for me now, I love the modifying, and although it doesn't show (your work is excellently clean) there is really a lot of modifying going on.

Superb subject, and good that you have the balls to go fully detail!

Olivier

NO!, this one will be as it came right from the factory, so no weird lips, spoilers and exhausts, i'm gonna make it as original as possible.

Yesterday was Queen's day. I was going to celebrate that in Amsterdam , but the trip was cancelled, so now i could do some more work on the engine.

I glued the parts together and painted them. Next thing is plumbing the intercooler, cooling and oillines from copper electicity wire. also te intercooler itself needed to be made.

And for aN4rK1 a pic of how the syncro system works. It's not a particular pic of the Rallye, but that doesn't matter:

Nice progress here!
Makes me a bit proud to see my copies as a part of your project. I see you did some nice improvements on the engine, are you satisfied with the parts? I even didnīt get a mail from you, that you recieved them

What about the VR6 exhaust? Are you going to use it?

Hey Julian, sorry fot not sending you an email, i think i was just a bit enthoustiastic so i forgot to say thanks.
The VR6 exhaust looks great, ithink i'm going to use the rear silencer with the endtips.

About the improvements on the engine: there was no cambelt or a drive belt for the G lader, so i took it from my revell mk2 donor and modified it a bit. It looks alright to me, but there's still no drive for the alternator, and i think i have to make a tensioner for it as well.
